unfriendly staff
Very unenjoyable stay at the Langdale Chase. Staff were extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming. At check in we got "here's your keys. room is after the car park. see ya later". Barely a hello. Checkout wasn't much better - i was unceremoniously handed like my receipt like from a cashier in a supermarket. While the room itself was adequate, and the setting is quite nice, these cannot make up for the lack of basic hospitality. In fact, I would say it's the worst hotel stay I've ever had in all my travels. I would not recommend the Langdale Chase.

Lovely location - but so cold!
This hotel is on the edge of Lake Windermere - a beautiful location. We were upgraded to a suite as the "room with a lake view" we had requested when we booked was not available. However, the suite was so cold it spoilt the stay - we were thankful we only booked for one night as we wanted to get home to warm up. We did ask reception if they could do something about the lack of heating and they told us that the manager was "sorting it out"- the heating did come on during the afternoon when we were out warming up in a local pub but was off again when we got back to our room after dinner. Such a shame, but being cold is no fun -it was much too cold to sit in the lounge to read or watch TV. And then there was the issue of flat Prosecco in the bar - the first time I have sent back a drink! The lack of bubbles was obvious and should not have been served. The glass served from the "new" bottle was no better and we gave up, meaning the celebration of our anniversary was oddly without any fizz. So this hotel has the potential to be idyllic with a great location and magnificent interior and exterior - but it fell a long way short of delivering an enjoyable stay on this occasion.

It's not for kids
It's a place for older couples wanting a quiet getaway. Not very suited for a child. Was given a playpen not a cot (£20) floorboards very loud enough to wake baby. Restaurant and room service very expensive paying for every room visit too. Food not the best wasn't cooked properly. Nice view and balcony from room. Like I say don't bother with Baby or kid but older couples are perfect.

Best hotel in the lakes.
Excellent Friendly staff, always ready to help Well cared for garden, nice to wa!k round, with beautiful Views of lake & snow capped mountains Fascinating hall & lounge's with fire surrounds dating back to the 1600s. The staircase is a work of art with its carved newels& twisted balusters, interesting history of previous owners. Looking forward to our next visit.
