Worst Hotel / Bed and Breakfast we stayed in
The room was very uncomfortable. Matress had Lumps and very uneven. Felt like mid-evil matress. Need New matresses. Pillows were lumpy and and pillow filling was stuck together. Needs new pillows. Breakfast was ??? . Fruit bar consisted of grapefruit slices, cooked breakfast portions very very small. Will never stay there again and will never recommend this place to anyone !! Stayed in 9 Bed and Breakfast hotels in various places on this trip in England. This was the only bad one

Dunster Castle Hotel - excellent hotel
New owners have recently refurbished hotel. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Rooms were comfortable. Main room was very good. Evening meals and hot breakfasts were very good. A rotation in evening meal menus might have added more variety. Note that most rooms are only accessible by staircase. Parking available at back. One of the very locations for a hotel I've stayed...Dunster High Street is great tourist attraction.

2 night break.
New owners, made you very welcome. Breakfast was great, we had an evening meal good choice of food and well cooked and presented. No hesitation in recommending, very good position for visiting castle.

Horrendous Hovel
Arrived to be told we would be staying in a room next door - but we could come back to the main hotel for breakfast! Room was situated off vehicle entrance with window onto pavement - which didn't seem to open! There were damp patches on the walls and peeling wall-covering. Told that heater had been left working in room (to dry out the dampness?) - there was a dehumidifier but it wasn't operating. The room was thick with dust. There were snail-trails across the carpet - yes, snails or slugs had obviously been working their way across the floor. The receptionist said she could reduce the price!! We couldn't stay in such a 'hovel' and managed to find a room at another hotel in the town. I was ashamed that any hotel would even consider offering a room as bad as this to the general public.
