Worst Hotel / Bed and Breakfast we stayed in
The room was very uncomfortable. Matress had Lumps and very uneven. Felt like mid-evil matress. Need New matresses. Pillows were lumpy and and pillow filling was stuck together. Needs new pillows. Breakfast was ??? . Fruit bar consisted of grapefruit slices, cooked breakfast portions very very small. Will never stay there again and will never recommend this place to anyone !! Stayed in 9 Bed and Breakfast hotels in various places on this trip in England. This was the only bad one

well placed hotel
Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Great room and a good breakfast. Could have done with a proper sitting area downstairs (and a log fire would have been nice!)

Friendly and welcoming with a great breakfast
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a better room, but it meant climbing narrow, steep stairs and they helped us with our luggage. The upgrade occurred because the property is being refurbished and they were afraid that the smell of paint would be annoying. Where we were, there was no problem with paint odors at all. The public spaces were beautifully and tastefully done. A nice mixture of old and modern decor. The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had in the UK on a B&B basis. One negative comment is that the room was an attic room. It was very nicely appointed with a kingsize bed and modern furniture, lovely toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities as well as a carafe of water and real glasses supplied. It was difficult to keep from bumping one's head and I kept on getting the dangling bits of the modern black plastic chandelier in my hair. Also, the towel rail didn't work in the bathroom, probably because it had just turned cold when we stayed there and they hadn't bled the radiators yet. We reported it the next day and were thanked profusely for notifying them. A very accommodating, hard-working staff. The parking was difficult with our VW car and had to maneouver very, very carefully to avoid scraping the mirrors getting in and out of the parking space. The hotel is on main street, making it easy to walk around town, visiting the charming, quaint shops and local historical sites.

Looking forward to our next stay there.
Our stay was very nice. We couldn't ask for more. A pleasant stay and good food, situated next to a castle and interesting costal villages and resorts. Very nice.
