Great Location Makes it Worth the Experience
We picked this hotel based on it's location. We read all of the reviews and knew that this was not a 5 star experience going into it. Our first night, our room's air conditioner wasn't working all that great, so the second night we moved into a different room that was much better. We spent a 3rd night here at the end of our vacation and spread out into two rooms on the 5th floor that had beautiful original ceilings (and working air conditioners). The front desk people are very nice and helpful. On our return stay, we dropped off our luggage and when we returned, they had delivered it to our 5th floor rooms for us! We would definitely stay here again, but we are not high maintenance people.

Horrible place to stay
Agreed that the hotel is close to the Termini station, but that is the only plus for this hotel. Looks like they have converted an appartment into hotel rooms. My first complain is that the name of the hotel shown on Hotels.com does not show anywhere on the building. The building has 3 -4 hotels in it and I had to knock every door in the building to ask them if they had my reservation Second, the stand-up shower is extremely tiny. I know things in Europe arer smaller compared to North America, but never expected it to be this small. An oversize person will not be able to get into the shower. The toilet bowl was stinking of sewer gas. The shower hardly had any water comming through it. If you want to shower in morning rush hour you would get a tiny stream of water coming through the shower head. If you wish to shower off rush hours, good luck with hot water. Wothout you touching the knob the water temperature would vary from cold to buring hot. There is no control on the temperature of the water.

Hotel cheap ok but
Inside the city of Rome most hotels' quality is so bad. This hotel is near by termini station so that transportation is very convenient but that's it. Every airport bus stops and waits at termini which means during the night I had to block my noses due to vehicle's gas. First time I thought that someone was smoking but it turned out vehicle's smoke. It caused me headache. I would not go there ever again.

Sketchy at first, grew on me over time.
So this place is really close to Roma Termini which was awesome. But the street it's on seemed kind of sketchy. No matter, we didn't have any problems. Also the fact that there was no sign for the hotel felt sketchy too. It didn't show up on Google Maps. The reception is just a door at the end of the first floor of the building that houses apartments and B&Bs with an LED sign above the door that just said "hotelier". A Russian girl was at the front desk and a guy with a cigarette and eastern european accent was next to her. We weren't sure if we were walking into some tourist trap. We toughened it out and was greeted kindly. The Russian girl was really nice and helpful. Once we got our keys, (real physical metal keys: one for a really rundown old elevator that was totally Wes Anderson style with a cage and everything, one for the floor and finally the last for our room) we made it to our room and was surprised by the cleanliness of the room and the unique character of the the ceiling. This building is old. I was really nervous about this hotel at first and regretted booking it out of haste, but soon grew to LOVE this place, the charm and adventurous feel to it all. The second shift front desk man was this awesome older gentleman (and I mean a true gentleman) who was really charming. It really felt like an authentic experience that you would never run into a budget hotel in the US. I actually recommend this place over some fancy hotel if you want a true authentic experience.

Correct Name is Hotel Caput Mundi
The correct name of this hotel is Hotel Caput Mundi, not Domus Roma. Hotels.com should correct this to avoid confusion for their customers. The booking confirmation SMS received from Hotels.com has the wrong phone#. The correct# is +393383654112. The hotel does *not* have WiFi reception in the first floor room. You have to go to the cramped ground floor reception room for internet access. Our train from Milan arrived late in the evening. The proximity to Roma Termini is convenient but walking down Via Giovanni Giolitti is quite scary even for experienced travelers as there are drug dealers touting their wares. The gentleman at the hotel reception desk at night was helpful and courteous. He suggested we take the bus to Fiumicino International Airport the next morning for EUR5 instead of the train for EUR15 and it was faster. This place is OK for a short stop over in transit, as we were.
