CityPoint Hotel, Bangkok

Your experience at Citypoint Hotel will highly depend on the front desk staff welcoming you... My second visit to this great hotel began very different than my first... - in a bad way. At my first visit, the front-desk-girl along with the bellboy greeting me, was smiling, happy & helpful. At my second visit, with check-in Sunday July 22nd 2018, the complete opposite was the case. The front-desk girl was totally careless, almost rude. Throughout our conversation during check-in she spoke very few words to me - the rest was just noises, like "mmm" "hhhhmmm" and so on. Obviously - I dont expect a welcoming party or anything but she made me feel very unwelcome in a very short periode of time... The next morning - one more girl exactly like her had joined the front desk team - however, the very nice girl from my first visit was also there. Its fascinating how these kind of things can effect ones overall experience. I stayed at the hotel two times the same month (July 2018) in the same room and had two very different experiences. My first stay left me the impression that I´ve found a hidden gem, my second stay left a lot of doubt of me ever coming back. M.M. LL.M Copenhagen, Denmark

this hotel is very near Asoke BTS.. less than 5mins walk.. there is Terminal 21 shopping mall just beside Asoke BTS.. it is about 20 mins drive away (if there is no traffic congestion) to New Rot Fai night market.. most of the shopping centres are reachable via the BTS.. which makes it ever so convenient.. the staff are also very friendly, very accommodating even when i request for additional 30mins before I am supposed to check out at 12pm.. when i returned late at night, there is a hotel personnel waiting outside which i supposed could be a security guard to ensure the safety of the hotel patrons.. the room that i got on the 5th floor is huge! the double pillows for each person was a bonus and had ample space for both my wife and I.. lots of programs on the tv too.. very quiet corner off the main road and away from the bustling traffic.. hotel room is also very clean and room cleaning services were very prompt in cleaning up the room.. the 2 things i am not really satisfied with is the shower and the aircon.. the temperature of the water can vary quite a bit.. turning to the left just a little can bring very hot water.. and the pressure of the water is not consistent, thus the water can go from very hot to cold instantly.. for the aircon, i think it is high time they should do a servicing or cleaning.. the sound from the rotating blades can be very loud, which means the blades are full of dust which has not been cleaned for a while..

Front staff are rude. If it was just once, it would be easy to excuse. Twice I’ve stayed here and each time the front desk have fake opening comments and smile but when it comes to having interaction beyond a script they have little time and are a bit arrogant. Seems like perhaps they are used to dealing with not so knowledgeable tourists and the extent of their courtesy and common sense extends just beyond that of a robot. Suggestion: if you see a guest soaking wet from the rain, check her in first before finishing all your stapling. I had to literally say, “can you do that later and check me in since I’m soaking wet?” I extended my stay and went to the front desk to let them know I have done this online. As I’m trying to explain another clerk interrupts with something completely unrelated I understand enough time to know this. Because of this she was not able to find my reservation as she was distracted for more than five minutes. I was on my way to an appointment and asked her to please finish my transaction and, annoyed, cut me off repeatedly saying she couldn’t find my booking. It wasn’t until I said, can you stop your conversation and attend to my transaction, when she suddenly found my reservation and I was able to get going. So many hotels in the area. If you have an option to go somewhere else.

Good location to travel around with 4-6mins of walking distance to/from hotel and Asok BTS station & Sukhumvit MRT station. Nearby TERMINAL 21 mall with 3-5mins walking distance. Breakfast is simple but with not much choices, however, still satisfy... Most of the staffs was friendly & helpful.. Especially Ms. Tass, really grateful for the kind help from her when really in needs of some assistance... :-) Overall experience is great and will recommend to our friends and relatives when they visit Bangkok... Hotel is not so difficult to locate via BTS, MRT & Taxi... You can ask the staffs to help to write the hotel address in Thai language at their Hotel namecard for the taxi driver to understand. Or the staffs will be very helpful to get a meter taxi for you on the street...

I was given the highest floor upon check-in. It was near the rooftop, so the room was very hot due to afternoon sun. On 27th April about 4am, I was woken up by the heat in the room. I realised there was a power failure in the hotel! As I could not sleep in the hot and stuffy room, I had to check out of the hotel at about 5am and go to the airport. The power failure caused the hotel's computer system to be down. So I could not check the bill. As my flight was another 6 hours to go, I had to spend another $50 to check in to the airport hotel to catch the few hours of sleep. Being a repeat customer of CityPoint Hotel, I had hoped the hotel to offer something as a goodwill gesture for causing the inconvenience and extra expenses incurred. But nothing heard from them. Very disappointed.
