Communication problems aplenty
Nice hotel. I’d stay here again and recommend it. There’s a serious communication problem with the staff. I asked for twin beds, got a written confirmation, but there wasn’t a twin bed room when we arrived. I also wrote the hotel the day before we got there asking for info on the cost for an upgrade and for a train schedule from Berlin to Dresden. Never got a response. Evidently, emails go to the hotel’s base in Leipzig, which only responds to reservation questions. The housekeeping staff didn’t replenish our coffee supply. The front desk staff can’t understand basic English. I asked for a train schedule to travel to Berlin…the woman thought I wanted tickets printed out. She became belligerent when I told her I only wanted a schedule so I could plan my travel. It’s a very nice hotel but even simple things are a problem. We were there for 8 nights for the opera so the staff’s density piled up. Room was lovely. Location is good…a 5 minute walk to the opera and the Zwinger. The executive lounge is great.

Extremely disappointed with the black mold and mildew in the bathroom. I took pictures, informed the staff and asked to move to a different room. The new “clean” room they offered me also had mildew and mold in the shower, it was a smaller inferior room, and faced a back alleyway wall instead of the lovely view in my original room. As it had only slightly less mold I kept my original room, I informed the staff of my decision, but requested my room be cleaned and put the “please clean” sign on my door. It was not cleaned the whole duration of my 3 night stay.
