I've stayed in better for half the price.
Warm welcome, lovely staff. Tired room in need of a little TLC. Rot in the wall panels in bathroom. Comfy bed but found two used tissues under pillow - eww. Nice to have a kettle in the room, shame there was no tea, coffee, cups, sugar etc. Could be a fantastic place but needs modernisation to bring it up to standard. I think the new owner is trying hard, but really it's a tired old locals pub with some rooms on top of it. Saying that would stay again as I think it will only get better with constructive feedback. Grub sounded nice but had previous booking with friends elsewhere.

+Price, nice barmaid, coffee+ tea set, heater,tv. -poor quality of everything..., bar inside hotel means drunk noisy peoples in hotel rooms (we had idiots as neighbour whos was banging at main door for 10minutes and shouting around 1-3 am).

Oldfashioned pub stay
Very welcoming, really seemed to care if we were there, Old fashioned pub atmosphere, with a good locally sourced local beer. Much enjoyed sat beside a log fire. Breakfast cooked to order, not kept warm as in some places.

A Hidden Jewel
The Anchor Inn is a hotel with a great atmosphere. We did not want to stay in "flash" hotels/resorts as you don't get to meet the "locals" which is something we wanted to do. This is exactly what we were able to do at the Anchor Inn, meet the "locals" and talk about various issues and have a good old fashioned talk with people with good values. Staff at the hotel are excellent, they cannot do enough for you, they are friendly and willing to help, and have a genuine "chat". Their hospitality on night one was a key factor in us staying for a second night. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is good, not expensive and the proportions are ample. The Anchor Inn is located in Hartland which is a jewel that is missed by most. If we get the opportunity - we will return and enjoy once more. Cheers

A wasted weekend break
Extremely tired hotel. Seems to be on its last legs. Damp smell permeates the building. Uncomfortable bed with springs digging in all night. Breakfast was very disappointing. The full English tasted as if all cooked in butter. The first breakfast for me to leave half on the plate. Even the coffee was unpalatable. Booked for two nights but left after the first breakfast.
