I wanted to like this place
I had read all the reviews and thought I was going in with an open mind. The location and price of this place was very attractive. The place is tricky to get in and out of but it is in a good location. The check in was smooth, friendly staff. We were in the rear building which was a little scary.. The room and furniture needs a lot of repair. Smells like smoke as soon as you walk in. Loud air conditioning unit. Very stained and dirty looking carpet. The bathroom is tiny, very old and dingy looking. The shower curtain had black mold all over it. We did not have full size towels the first night so had to make do with the two hand towels. Staff promised towels the next morning. Breakfast offered is adequate. I just couldn't shake the feeling of everything looking grimy. Got back to room and still not made up and no towels. Security guard delivered some about half hour later. All bedding and towels were stained. Around 7:30PM the housekeeper shows up to ask if we wanted the room cleaned. Although the staff couldn't be friendlier, I will not be staying here again. My daughter and I would stay out trying to find things to do until late at night, just because we did not want to spend any time in the room.

Charming old "Motor Lodge"
This is a typical "Motor Lodge" like we stayed in on family vacations in the late 50s- early 60s. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was above average with a great selection and plenty of fresh fruit. I even spent a couple of mornings hanging out in the lobby reading the local paper and talking with some of the other guests...very relaxing. I even spent some time talking with the owner who is a very interesting man (I was told he is in his 90s) and has way more energy than I. If you are looking for a fancy 5 star hotel, go elsewhere. you will be disappointed.

You get what you pay for
This hotel had a very good rate for the time I wanted. I was bringing my son back to school and just needed a room to sleep. The hotel is old and not in very good condition. The room itself was clean, but the vent in the bathroom was really bad. I would not stay here again

You get what you pay for.
Upon arrival I noticed that the carpet had multiple stains and was not vacuumed well, but the sheets looked clean and no sign of bedbugs, so we decided to keep the room since it was late in the evening. The following morning when I went to shower I found black mold on the shower curtain and the tub was not cleaned well. The front office offered us another room. As the other room was not a significant improvement, I asked if I could receive a new shower curtain and install it myself. They provided a new shower curtain. Two days later, I went to use the microwave and found a foil pan with food or something had been left in it. I immediately closed the microwave door and notified housekeeping the next morning. We checked out the same day.

Outstanding value! Retro charm!
Thoroughly enjoyed my brief stay! Friendly staff in a "Retro" motel with charm that reminds one of going back in time to a simpler era. Since it dates to 1939, it has retained that old time family feel. Good breakfast, clean rooms. I highly recommend if you are looking for great value and I will stay again!
