Good price and location for gay scene and historic district. Place feels a little run down. There are better affordable options in town.

Okay, if you can stand the noise from the fountain
The owners have put a lot of effort into the hotel, but they've only gone about halfway. The furniture, walls, ceilings, and bed are very nice. It's also nice to have a room with windows. The staff are very pleasant. The breakfast area is lovely, and the breakfast is a generous continental breakfast. However, my room was very dark. They need WAAAAAY more lights in the hotel. My bathroom especially was very dimly lit. When I arrived, there were no towels in my room. When I finally got towels, they weren't that nice. They need better towels. I wasn't offered an alebrije or any tourist info, as the website promised. The safe in my room was broken. Wi-fi signal seemed to be intermittent. The website implies that rooms have A/C. ("[In other hotels], A/C is noisy or doesn't work.") My room had no A/C. The most annoying aspect of the hotel is the fountain in the central courtyard. It's deafening! Maybe you'll find it soothing, but I couldn't sleep with the windows open. And since there is no A/C, I had to make the choice between closing the windows and sleeping in a hot room, or leaving the windows open and not sleeping due to the fountain noise. Also, the central courtyard amplifies any talking that is going on in the courtyard or at the front desk. I would stay here again only if they got rid of the fountain.

Exceptional 10.0
Highly recommended
Very quick check-in, friendly and helpful staff and nicely decorated, large suites. Love the fountains in the courtyard area and the security provided by keycard in/out access. Walkable to lots of great things in the area and convenient for Uber/taxi pickups.

Great place to stay and explored the gay scene
John was very friendly and knowledge of the area and surrounding cities. He also was helpful in the information of the club. His staff was as well as helpful and courteous. I will be returning.

Central Location, Big Rooms, Lovely Courtyard
Set in a historic 19th-century home in the heart of downtown Guadalajara, Casa Alebrijes is lovingly maintained, with a beautiful courtyard with fountain, and spacious rooms with high ceilings. It's walking distance to downtown tourism attractions and also super close to a lot of gay nightlife — which is one reason why this is such a beloved LGBT hotel. The owner is super friendly and provides lots of insider travel tips and also bar-hopping advice. The rates are very reasonable and include a nice breakfast. I've stayed here twice and would definitely stay again!
