Had to change room as first room was above pub that had a loud band on with no sound proofing, window had been left open in room prior to arrival and was above smoking area so stank of cigarettes. Didn't have any other doubles so was put in a twin room outside that would have been great had it not been freezing, to the point I had to move the bed down so that I could sleep against a radiator for warmth. Unfortunately on moving the bed I found a very mouldy plug highlighting that the room was damp! Very disappointing! The guy was however very nice about me wanting to move and very apologetic.

It was good for the price
It was grand for the price. Room we were in was a little noisy as we were directly above the pub on a Sat. The band that were playing played some good tunes.

A dirty roudy pub not an hotel
Firstly the pictures on your website bore no resemblance to the actual venue. This venue could no way be classified as an hotel, it was a riotous drinkers pub. with loud noise going on until late. No food was available by their own admission lost their chef. So we had to find somewhere for an evening meal. the rooms were dirty and the décor very tired, the shower in our room had been repaired by installing another base on top of the old one, the silacone filler around the base was peeling away which was very unhygienic tiles were missing. The décor was dirty and very tired. We didn't get very much sleep because of the noise it wasn't relaxing quite the opposite. They did change our room for the second night which was slightly better, but on going up the stairs there were holes in the carpets and there was a broken stair rail which is a safety hazard. Once the pub was closed there was no one in charge not even a night porter. this place should not be on Hotels.com website it was a disgrace, I feel strongly enough to report it to the local trading standards office , IT IS NOT AN HOTEL.

The Great Escape
I needed a one night stay in the area for business and didn't fancy paying £100+ - on Hotels.com the Blue Anchor was £60 - it's not a hotel but a pub with a few rooms upstairs - breakfast is juice and Oats o Simple in a basket in the room - the pub food was fine - the big problem was in the morning - the whole pub was locked up and no-one was around - luckily my room had the fire escape outside so i was able to climb out of the window - otherwise i don't know what i would have done.

Do not stay here.
The room was bad, the bathroom door did not shut properly, The bathroom was in very bad condition and tiny, one toilet squeezed next to a shower cubicle. Mildewed tiles etc. There was no chair in the room, the pillows were very thin so I used all 4 from the two single beds. Good job I was traveling alone. The "complimentary breakfast" was a joke. A pot of Oatsosimple instant porridge, a Alpen bar & a carton (200ml) of cherries & berries juice. When I asked if I could open a tab for drinks & dinner the answer was no so I had to walk half a mile to an atm to withdraw cash. Food was simple, beer expensive & patrons noisy.
