Carlton Hotel, Sliema
After an exhausting trip from NYC, we arrived at the Carlton and were told that our room had a leak and that we would have to stay at another hotel. This is 9:30 at night. The indifferent hotel clerk arranged for a hotel for us to stay at that was close by and arranged for a cab to pick us up for free. We asked if we could stay at the other hotel for all three nights rather than having to waste our limited time on checking into another hotel the next morning. The clerk could not provide an answer. I asked him why he didn't email or call me since we had made the reservation over a week ago. He told me that he did not have my e-mail or phone number. He showed me the hotel confirmation page. I pointed out my e-mail address and phone number. He said nothing. We later learned that the Carlton is part of a conglomerate that owns eight hotels. This further enraged us as we wondered why, out of eight hotels, they couldn't find one single room to put us up in for a mere three nights. he hotel we were sent to was less expensive than the hotel we booked. The next day we returned to the Carlton and checked in. Nothing was said about the incredible inconvenience or the ineptitude of the staff. They gave us an "upgrade" with an obstructed water view from the FIRST FLOOR. The room was decent. No real complaints about it given the price we were paying. The food however, was awful. Please, do not stay at this hotel or any of the hotels affiliated with it.

Great Location but bring your earplugs to sleep.
This hotel was an excellent value. I stay in a hotel 30-45 nights a year and can tell you if you want a great location and are not looking for a resort atmospehere, then this hotel should be fine. DRAWBACKS: 1. If you are on a lower level with an ocean view you will be exposed to loud noise from the street. 2. The bath towels are small and abrasive, one was ripped down the side. POSITIVES: 1. Helpful, friendly staff. 2. Great value. 3. Breakfast is great and resonably priced with a nice ocean view on the top floor. 4. Awesome location with a bar next door and the bus station directly across the street to take you anywhere on the island you want to go. 5. Bed and pillows were comfortable and clean. BOTTOM LINE: I would recommend this hotel & I would stay there again.

Malta Vacation
This hotel is not upscale BUT it is easy to get anywhere from here and the staff were VERY accommodating. You don't spend much time in the room anyhow and it had a pleasant balcony to sit and watch all the activity on the prommanade below. There was also a small market close by that had everything you'd need for drinks or snacks for happy hour on the balcony.

Third stay
This was my third stay at the Carlton and the staff were as fantastic as ever. The location is a little noisy at times and the hotel could do with redecorating, but for the price it's a great place to stay.
