Quaint Hotel in a Country Setting
Gorgeous country setting for this grand estate. Quaint room with comfortable bed and appointments. Cozy and comfortable restaurant and bar with wonderful food and drink. Old world feel throughout.

Great potential
Good food in general though low point was most ordinary side salad of time. Quirky rooms and in general nice hotel. Bar prices are typical hotel rates so don't be surprised. Service does need an uplift. Staff were either unattentive or were not up to speed with the menu. Pity really as the chef is putting together a decent menu.

perfect place
great food and amazing staff, could use better curtains to block out light in room number 18

A place to eat but not to stay!
Moved to another room as socket was a fire hazard (burnt black visible inside plug socket) Very uncomfortable bed in both rooms. Second bathroom more tired than the first. Nothing to do with housekeeping but dirty due to age and use. Grout orange and black. Loo seat rusty and corroded. Carpets ingrained with dirt. Staff in restaurant very friendly although some new and clearly with no training as could not use the coffee machine. Reservation for that night could not be found. Food to a high standard with flavour. Lack of management evident. Even the duty manager on leaving although about did not want to speak to me and I was given her email address instead.

Bit dissapointed
I asked for a morning paper which wasn't arranged. The breakfast was not well presented, various elements of the breakfast had run out and were not replaced. The hotel appeared to be employing children and the service was correspondingly poor. The room was not the same as in the photograph of the room I booked on the internet. There was a wedding party with a disco taking place. I had a call the day before to say the disco would finish at 12pm but it went on to 1am. The evening reception staff clearly didn't have much capacity. Nice building but a lack of management. A room for a night at £118 should be better.
