Charming and Convenient
Charming hotel in the Lake District. Served an excellent breakfast and had a fine bar/restaurant attached.

Poor hotel in great area, over priced and grubby.
Very disappointed with this hotel. Room very poor, no heating except thru poorly maintained electric type. very small. Bathroom cold and grubby, breakfast service terrible. Hotel manager didn't give two hoots when I told him how poor it was. Completely over priced. I'd advise to remove from their books.

Relaxing break
Great location - we predominantly go to the Lakes to walk and Grasmere has lots of good routes right from the hotel door. The Mews suite we stayed in was nice, good for relaxing in after walking all day and the hot tub was a good addition. Breakfast was good (although to get enough of the short days in winter could be at 8am instead) and the food in Tweedies Bar (along with the drinks) was really good. The thing that would put me off staying again would be the poor quality mattress and bedding which, for the price of the suite could and should have been much better. Get that sorted out and we will be back.
