Basic but clean hostel
Good overall. Basic hostel. Clean. Wifi doesn't work very well in common areas and doesn't work at all in the rooms

Backpacker style dont rely on wifi
The rooms are a good size and the shared bathroom, kitchen and living are practical however a little outdated. The WiFi kept disconnecting

Cheap and close to town
The hotel is close, cheap and generally clean. The hotel is fine as long as you do not set your expectations to high. I would stay again.

First time in a backpackers
Pinewood was pretty much the last affordable accommodation I could find in Queenstown during my stay. Decent enough rooms (4 to a room, 2 bunks). The bed was comfortable enough and the place provided fresh linen and pillow case for the beginning of your stay. Location of powerpoints were more ideal for lower bunk sleepers than top. Carpets could've done with a vacuum. And as with ALL other posters, the WiFi situation REALLY needs a review. Overall, a decent budget location for those travelling on a shoestring budget or wanting to save money to use on tour trips and other activities (NZ is not a cheap location!). The guys at front reception were very helpful. That would be the saving grace of this place. Kudos to them. They offered lots of advice of tours and helped with bookings (and were able to offer discounts to some). Would I stay again? Sure, it was quite the "experience" for a first timer in a backpackers lodge. Just lower your expectations haha
