Anchor Inn and Cottages, Sanibel
We paid $608 for two nights for a business trip. The price was $400 too much. The owners were very very nice but our room seems like a cement dormitory. It was old fashion and the smoke detector was disconnected. The furnishings were cheap and for that price we expected a cottage. The room definitely needed updating.

Location excellent for biking and convenience to restaurants. Needs some updating but looks like new managers making progress. Comfortable, pleasant, quiet, private. Stayed 8 nights.

We only stayed overnight and picked the smallest room. It felt bigger with the table and chairs outside. Older place but very well taken care of.

First time in the area
First time to the area. Last minute trip. Had a room, not a cottage. Quaint older hotel, very clean, quiet, appeared freshly painted, new linens & window treatments. Nice, well maintained pool & pool area with chase lounges & tables & chairs. Outdoor sitting areas, corn hole boards, grills. Had beach chairs (not reclining - (basically lower ‘lawn chairs) & nice beach towels available to take to Beach - which is about 1/4 mile walk. Italian restaurant across street, small market/liquor store also within walking distance. Otherwise need to drive or bike.

Nice cottage but lacking in the amenities
The cottage was very nice. It was big enough with a loft and a bedroom and living room that we were 5 people and comfortable with a TV in each room. But there were a number of little things that I wasn't that happy with. It was not cheap. We paid about $450 a night. If you pay that much for a regular hotel you expect really top rate service. Their office closes at 9PM. So, if you need anything after that you're out of luck. And in our case we were checking in late, so we were lucky I'd called ahead and they left a note taped to the door for instructions. It is also not really that close to the beach. It's a 15 minute walk or a few minutes in a car. They didn't provide maid service so for two days we had to use the same towels and had to resupply our own toilet paper. The bathroom lock didn't work which was a little uncomfortable with 4 adults and one kid. The close captioning on the TVs were hard to set up and the hotel clerk who tried to help couldn't figure it out either. Only the living room AC had heat and not in the bedroom which only had cool air, so it was chilly. Again, little things...just at for that kind of money I'm used to getting first class service as well as a nice room..
