Clean, comfortable, LOVED it
Wonderful ryokan with tasty japanese style breakfast. Staff were helpful and sweet. Sleeping on mats on the tatami floor was actually pretty comfy because the mats are thick. Rooms are huge, clean, and mosquito free. Bathroom was teensy bit annoying because the sink was sooo low and no matter what I did, water ended up all over the floor after a shower. Still, this will be my go-to place in Kyoto because it is so close to the market, delicious restaurants, and quaint neighborhood.

Outstanding Treat!
It was a bit hard to find, but it was definitely a "hidden treasure" for a Ryokan. The room was nice and we had a marvelous time there. The traditional breakfast is a "can't miss", as it was a Japanese meal fit for royalty. The Ryokan is located fairly close to a nice shopping district with nice restaurants if you chose to venture out. I'd definitely return here again...The Ryokan staff was absolutely fabulous and they were very helpful and friendly. I thought the placing of a name plate outside our room was a nice touch.

Restful Stay in a Traditional Inn with Modern Feel
The hotel staff is located about a 7 minute walk from subway and local bus stops, so it can be a little tricky to find depending on where you get dropped off. That being said, the rooms provide space for restful accommodations in a traditional Japanese inn with a modern twist. The staff is very welcoming and takes the time to lay out the beds each night for returns from what can be tiring walking days around Kyoto. There are a few options for bathrooms with private bath or no bath in the room. My family had a private bath, but my wife and I used the hotel bath downstairs. It was very clean and relaxing! We did not use the ryokan kitchen, but instead found a few great breakfast spots around the ryokan. The French chain Paul is close as well as Inoda Coffee. There are plenty of other food options for dinner by foot in a place like Kawaramachi. There is a small souvenir shop on the first floor that also can help with any missed opportunities around the city. Would certainly stay here again!

Nice ryokan, uncomfortable sleep
Fabulous service but uncomfortable sleep and furniture (but this is typical for a ryokan.) service was excellent at the hotel but we are happy we only stayed one night as it was not very comfortable in the room.
