Tranquil, beautiful, stylish. Stay here!
If you like peace and tranquility, and a gaggle of geese overlooking rolling pastures, stay here! You will love it. A beautiful home, in a beautiful setting, with lovely and gracious hosts. One of my favorite stays in almost 600 consecutive nights traveling the world. Superb.

Very Good8.0
We were in the Lake District for its famous long walks. David was very helpful in suggesting a walk from his place to the second-nearest town (Ambleside), 4 hours almost all of which was on non-car-accessible roads. His directions and choice of GPS-locatable landmarks gave us exactly the sort of journey we had sought. The room itself was quite lovely and cozy, and the bed and pillows very pleasant indeed. We didn't try out the nearby pub The Drunken Duck but apparently that's a big draw. If you're taxiing to High Grassings from Ambleside, take John's, for ~12GBP.

Perfect B&B
We spent a wonderful night at High Grassings. We booked it very last minute, but our host was very accommodating. We spent the evening enjoying a bottle of wine watching the sheep in the grass right across the road and marveling at the beautiful surroundings. It was so quiet and peaceful. We really can't wait to come back here for another visit. It is a great location to explore the Ambleside and Hawkhead areas for cycling or hiking. Just a 20 minute walk to the Drunken Duck.

Private, quiet Inn in beautiful countryside.
The Lake District was half way from Inverness, Scotland and our destination south, so was a convenient stop over. We ended up spending the next morning exploring this beautiful area before continuing. For us, it was nice to be away from the touristy towns and stay in the country. Make sure you know how to get to the Inn as GPS doesn't work well there.
