Too small
The room was tiny and the bathroom smaller. The usable space in the room was about 9'x7' minus the area of the bed, night tables, and closet. I couldn't sit straight on the toilet because it was so close to a wall and the shower. The shower was so small my shoulders touched the glass if I moved just a little. Both the sink and the shower drained very slowly, and the shower leaked. On the plus side, the staff was friendly and helpful and the all you can eat breakfast was not bad: full English plus cereal. I guess for the price it was overall okay, but we will not be staying here again.

Nice location but NO elevator
No elevator & steep stairs. Wifi works occasionally. Very basic breakfast. Great location close to Hyde park and subway. We were disappointed to notice that the hotel does NOT have an elevator (something that one would take for granted...). We got a room from the 4th floor and had to climb up the steep stairs (77 stairs...) few times a day. Room was small but ok for us. Toilet / shower room was clean. Beds were comfortable. There's no air conditioning, so we kept our window open all day and had the little fan spinning. Since we were in the top floor the noises didn't really matter that much. Free wifi worked every now and then. Couldn't always count on that though which was annoying. The free breakfast was also very basic: tea/coffee, toasts, egg, ham (not very good), sausage (didn't like at all), cereal.

Great location.
A nice little hotel in a great location at a reasonable price. Small room and small bathroom like most older hotels but upgraded nicely. No elevator made it a challenge to climb to the upper floors, but good for a daily leg exercise. Craven Terrace is a wonderful location near Hyde Park and Lancaster Gate tube station. Short walk from Paddington Station. The Mitre down the street is a very nice pub.

craven hotel good place to crash for the night
We had a long layover in LON, so we stayed at the craven just for the night. It's in a great neighborhood and if you are planning on only using the room for a place to sleep and quick shower then its fine, I would've had a tough time spending a few nights there, as the rooms were pretty small. Front desk staff was nice and quick with getting us checked in.
