Somerset Grand Hanoi, Hanoi

Booked reasonably ahead of time. At check in given a 6th floor room. Asked if a higher floor could be provided. Was told heavily booked. Apologised for potential inconvenience as renovations being undertaken. Room was not up to par as air conditioning in living and dining area did not cool down the area despite running the entire night. By 9am the following morning and renovation work started with jack hammering seeming to come from adjacent rooms. No way you stay in the room during that period. Before leaving to go around Hanoi in the morning complained about the aircon and the excessive renovation noise. Asked to be moved to a higher floor. Reception said they will have maintenance check it and will see what can be done when we come back. Back to the hotel by nearly 2pm after a very tiring walk around as the weather was so hot. Asked reception if they have checked the room and was told they still have to check. Told them we were so tired and could not possibly rest in the room with the excessive noise and asked to be transferred. Again tried to rationalise that it was already check in time (2pm) and if we wanted to move we should have asked earlier. Reminded reception that I already complained in the morning. Only after showing irritation that reception agreed to move us to a higher floor, about 9-10 floors away from renovation. Noise was what you would expect as an inconvenience you can hear a bit of noise but not loud. They try to get you to use worst room first.

I would like to recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Hanoi as our family with 6 people have a home feel & very comfortable by living in one single room. The room is very spacious and equipped with a living room, dining room, a kitchen and all electrical appliances. Besides, there is a small shopping mall with a supermarket, café etc. The location is very good, only 45 minutes from the airport, the hotel is very close to the Maison Centrale museum. Only takes about 5 - 10 minutes by car to Hoan Kiem Lake, Old District, Water Puppet Show Threatre, Ho Chi Minh Museum. Not much hotel in Hanoi is equipped with swimming pool, this is very good especially the hot weather. There is a special residents festival of which the hotel setup a temporary counter and serve the residents with iced, green bean or sweet corn soup for free of charge. We have a great surprise & feel very warm after coming back from the day tour. Overall, our family has a good memory by spending the summer holiday trip in this hotel.

The accommodation is spacious and centrally located within walking distance of the main shopping areas. There is a well stocked mart on the ground floor that provides all the basics and more and this coupled with the cafes and other establishments ensure that you do not have to go far for food or a haircut. The Jaspas restaurant on the 4th floor is very good and offers a wide range of cuisine that could be ordered as room service. Pros: - Well located, very spacious and well equipped including a washer dryer - Service levels are good and courteous though we did encounter a sour and unhelpful late night front office desk staff. But the rest were more than eager to provide assistance. - Easy access to metered taxis Cons: - Rooms need refurbishing and seem furnishings look tired and there are carpet stains - Beds are not the most comfortable. Pillows definitely need to be changed to more firmer ones as the current ones seem to crumple in a heap.

4인 가족이 머물렀는데 아파트형 객실이고 객실이 상당히 넓어 정말 편리했습니다. 위생도 좋고 수영장, 피트니스센터 그리고 조식도 만족스러웠습니다. 여행중 도난사건이 있었는데 리셉션 직원인 Mr.HUY, 보안직원인 Mr.HUNG 그리고 Alice Lee 매니저님께서 오랜 시간동안 귀찮거나 힘든 내색 없이 최선을 다해 도와주셔서 너무나 감사했습니다. 하노이를 또 방문하게 된다면 다시한번 somerset grand hanoi에 올것입니다. I stayed with my family of four, and it was very convenient because it was an apartment-type room and there was a large room. I had good hygiene, a swimming pool, a fitness center, and a good breakfast. There was a theft during the trip. Reception staff, Mr. HUY, security staff, Mr. HUNG, and Alice Lee manager were very grateful for the long time to do their best to help without bothering or hard-nosed looks. If I visit Hanoi again, I will come to Somerset Grand Hanoi again.

We spent two nights over a weekend at the Somerset Grand Hanoi. We have a family of 5 and were able to get a 3 bedroom room with a king bed, queen bed and two twin beds for a very reasonable price. The room itself was somewhat dated, but it was clean and had everything we needed. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The fitness center had modern cardio equipment and a good selection of weights and machines to use. While we didn't get the chance to use it, the outdoor pool had recently been redone and looked very nice. The location was great - just a couple of blocks south and west of Hoan Kiem Lake and close to many restaurants. We could look down from our room into Hoa Lo Prision Museum, which was right next door.
