Very nice set up, just what was required.
Every aspect of a short stay was catered for, cleanliness was above standard, comfort was very good, staff were very friendly, would recommend to anyone. The only slight problem in our room was the bathroom, would definitely NOT suit anyone who had a weight problem, not a lot of "turning space", however we were absolutely fine.Overall, it worked for us.

Bring Ear Plugs
Didn't research well enough before booking. Though the location is great in lovely Hampstead, building suitably old and quaint and undoubtedly the restaurant wonderful the hotel rooms just don't measure-up. The linoleum flooring, cheap fixtures and furnishings are sad. The rooms are on a main road without air conditioning so opening the windows in the warm weather prevented sleep with cars and trucks flying past under the window all night. The bathroom was tiny, with poor fixtures and toilet so close to the sink pedestal one couldn't sit facing forward. The hotel staff were great, both friendly and very attentive. It is a shame the investment hasn't been made in the hotel rooms.

Great Small Hotel in Hampstead
We wanted to stay in Hampstead rather than central London, and La Gaffe is one of a small number of hotels in the area. It's about a five minute walk (up hill!) from Hampstead tube station. This is a great location: a quick walk to the center of Hampstead and public transportation, but relatively quiet. Our room, which was at the back of the hotel, was very quiet and comfortable. It was sparely furnished, but very clean. It was not particularly spacious, but there was ample room for two people with luggage. The bathroom was surprisingly large, with a whirlpool bath tub and steam shower. Oddly, no soap was provided, only bath gel/shampoo. A simple continental breakfast was provided. Getting to your room requires negotiating some narrow staircases (there is no lift). Overall, we were very satisfied with La Gaffe. The room was comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful, and the price was very reasonable (particularly for London). It's a bit quirky (in a good way) - not a typical sterile hotel.
