A very different hotel
My room (Rough Trade room) was just as I expected and really great. Loved the posters and the record player and I did listen to the records each evening. The only snag was the day WiFi broke down and then the day the central heating broke down. The central heating was a bit of a problem as the room got very cold. But it was fixed the following day. I stayed a total of 4 nights. Breakfast was excellent and the staff very helpful and lovely.

Good value
This hotel was great. The room was just as advertised. I liked the individual character of my room which was the knit room. Not much space to store bags, but as I was only spending one night it was fine. It was lovely to be able to open window and breathe the fresh sea air and her the seagulls. Alice who works at the front desk was both helpful and friendly. She loved working at the hotel and it showed in the way that she assisted guests.

Unique anf Fun
My daughter and I stayed in the Bowery Room. She said if she could have any room in the world it would be that one. I loved this hotel.. I went a little low on comfort because I'm a larger woman. If you are of size don't book this room, as you won't fit on the toilet. Otherwise I recommend staying here, it's fun and unique.

I hope you like music!
This is a niche hotel and not for everyone but we enjoyed it well enough. The rooms are all unique and artsy and the pub downstairs is lively until the wee hours--if you are looking for a quiet getaway, this may not be your place, but if you enjoy live music and DJ's with a well stocked bar, this is for you. We used it as an acclimation place while we recovered from our long flight and it's an easy train ride from Gatwick to Brighton. The room was very comfortable, the staff amazingly friendly, and there is a lift in case stairs aren't your thing. If we ever get back to Brighton, I definitely want to stay here again, but I might pick a room on a higher floor...we were only one flight up and the music thoroughly permeated the night.
