Donard Hotel, Newcastle
The location was fabulous, view from the hotel, of the Mournes was breathtaking, the staff excellent, food, only had breakfast which was excellent, good choices, hotel cleanliness also excellent, only minor, hate to say complaint, but the Hotel is tired, brown bathroom suite!! Very much in need of redecorating, brought up to date, but then price would not be the bargain it is, nearby hotel nearly 3 times the price

Old, but Convenient
Pros: Friendly greeting and quick check-in. Hotel is old but clean. Good location, near shops, pubs, and restaurants. Close to seaside promenade. Cons: Hotel is old and a bit tired. Breakfast is good but service is slow, with only one-person waitstaff. Hotel is on busy street, near pubs, so street side rooms are noisy. Bottom Line: May be best choice in Newcastle if you want to stay within walking distance of conveniences.
