About Hotel Villa Bahia, Salvador

At Hotel Villa Bahia, you'll have an ideal place to start exploring Pelourinho, the oldest neighborhood in historic Salvador. You'll be staying right on Pelourinho Square, next to the tourist police station and in the center of the car-free pedestrian district, surrounded by local music venues. A metro station is located nearby. This neighborhood is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is full of landmarks from Salvador's long history. Fundacao Casa de Jorge Amado, a museum and foundation dedicated to the memory of one of Bahia's most famous writers, is 350 meters (less than a quarter-mile) away. Peruse the craft and food vendors at bustling Mercado Modelo, just 1 km (a little over a half-mile) west, or spend a scenic afternoon taking in All Saints Bay and Salvador's western waterfront--it's just shy of 1.25 km (about three-quarters of a mile) away.

Two renovated colonial houses from the 17th and 18th centuries--typical for this area full of historic homes--are decorated with antiques, vintage fittings, and locally sourced furniture. One courtyard contains a small tiled plunge pool surrounded by greenery, while the other frames a relaxing fountain. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner on the hotel's front patio or in one of the courtyards. A bountiful Bahian breakfast is complimentary and served each morning. Room service is available during limited hours. Take in even more of this historic neighborhood from the rooftop terrace. You can tell your family at home about your trip with the complimentary hotel-wide wireless Internet access.

Guestrooms are as unique as the 2 houses that create this hotel. Each is individually decorated and named for a port or a period of Portuguese expansion in Brazil. Layouts and size vary; some include sofa beds, and others offer private terraces. The 32-inch HDTV comes with premium cable channels. Bathrooms have bathrobes and hair dryers. Iron/ironing boards are available upon request. Turndown service is performed daily.

This is a wheelchair accessible property.

Hotel Villa Bahia, Salvador
Hotel Villa Bahia is beautiful! It is an old mansion that's been renovated and turned into a hotel. We stayed in the "Cochin" room (all the rooms have names instead of numbers and come with old fashioned keys/locks that are most likely original). The room is basically a duplex suite. On the first floor, you walk into the sitting room with a tv, then there's the bedroom with an open air bathroom. Up the stairs on the second level, there is a private sundeck with a little bit of a view of the city's historical district. The hotel is very clean, staff is multilingual and very friendly and helpful. One of the biggest bonuses of this hotel is its restaurant on the ground floor. One of the reviews I read mentioned that if you weren't staying here to definitely check out the restaurant. They were not wrong. Besides the delicious and healthy breakfast, the meal we had at dinner was one of our favorites of the entire 10-day/4-city Brazil trip.

Excellent restaurant as well!
Not Just the hotel was , the restaurant as well! If you don't have time to stay at the hotel, at least try the restaurant. The chef was formed by Ducasse and has a very wide choice of sophisticated and also regional food. Enjoy!
