Good nights rest for or road trip.
Great location for passing through town. Clean and comfortable room. Nice breakfast and friendly staff.

Wouldn't recommend unless you have pets
The staff did their best with what they had to work with. Apparently, it is corporate policy to allow pets. I was across the hall from yapping little dogs, so they moved me to a room at the other end of the hallway. That room had a terrible sewer smell covered up by heavily scented air freshener. The only other available room was just 2 doors down from the dogs, but I decided that was better. The tub in that room is shown in the pic. The dark spots are chips, but you can't help but wonder if the brown streaks were from someone's dog. Maintenance issue?? Cleaning issue?? The TV had no sound. The water fountains tasted like chlorine and clearly the orange juice was made from that heavily chlorinated water. If that's how the city water is there, they need to invest in a filtration system. The rest of the breakfast was good. The room was spacious and the bed had comfortable pillows.

Good for dogs, just OK otherwise
We chose LaQuinta in McAlester, OK because it was a dog-friendly hotel midpoint on our trip when we were bringing our lab mix. Generally, LaQuinta hotels are decent low-mid level hotels and this one was quite similar to others we've stayed at in the past. The front desk staff on arrival was very friendly & courteous. The Executive Queen was pretty much just a queen with a small amount of extra floorspace--not a suite and not even a couch, partition or extra bed. The beds are just OK and the equipment in the fitness room was broken. I mentioned the non-functional elliptical and well-worn treadmill upon departure and was told that new equipment was "on order". I suggested that they add a sign, so others knew the equipment was known to be broken & when new equipment was expected. The message seemed to fall flat on the front desk attendant, so I doubt they will take my suggestion. For travel when I don't have a canine companion, I would definitely pick a different hotel, but they'll keep getting my business as one of the truly dog-friendly hotel chains.

Nice McAlester motel
I enjoyed this motel. It was clean and had a nice breakfast. The only thing was the shower water pressure, but that seems pretty standard nowadays.
