The good stuff - ski in out location. A few food options onsite and convenience stores across the road. Good onsen and not too crowded.
Tip - the air conditioning is centrally controlled so unfortunately the room was sweltering. The best option is to turn it off near the bed and open the window a little. Take the free gondola to the restaurant up the mountain. Reasonable price and quality.
The rooms are pretty dated which was a bit surprising given the price. Having stayed at the Westin across the road I was surprised by the difference.

Hotel is huge. The ski in and ski out is positive, the onsen is good, but I don’t think it is a natural hot spring as they claimed to be in north building. The room is just average at best, the toilet room smells bad, that shows the staff doesn’t clean well. The hotel has a few restaurants, but their food all very mediocre. The breakfast buffet is very crowded, don’t understand why they can’t not open the other restaurant place for breakfast too. The on-site ski rental place is twice expensive as the outside rental store just about 5 minutes away. And the staff there is so bad, the ones in the premium rental store are just sitting there staring at you as if they are the customers. Overall, this is not a hotel with good service. But they have the monopoly in the resort. They know people don’t have choice, but keep coming.

Conveniently located with ski ski out access.

Fantastic location and many options for dining after a day skiing, but the hotel feels a bit antiquated and in need of renovation.

The resort was perfect for skiing at Rusutsu. The mountain was perfect, especially for early season skiing. The ski locker situation was ideal - lockers for every room, short walk to the first lift. Great restaurant options ~10 in the immediate area. Highly recommend this place.

We picked this property because it is at the base of the ski area and we were not disappointed. What we were surprised by was the amusement park theme with a carousel, village mock ups, and animatron figures singing! It was a real experience! Multiple dining choices, great gym, and beautiful views. Great place to stay if skiing Rusutsu!

Perfect location for easy (ski in/out) access to Rusutsu ski area. Large range of restaurants to choose from as well as easy access to Westin via monorail. Belle Vue steak and seafood restaurant a standout for something a bit more special - higher end but definitely worth it. Rooms large and easily accommodating 4 in single beds. Novelty factor for younger kids with games area, a free Carousel and other entertainment.

Pros:
- nice and spacious room, with a comfortable bed
- ski-in/out
- free ski locker is provided, so you don't have to lug your gear up to and down from your room.
- free hot spring
Cons:
- no thermostat in the room (you can't control the temp)
- some of the restaurants were closed with no reasons given, although there were still a fair number of choices left.

Loved our stay here! We did ski in/ ski out and everything was so convenient and well thought out. We were here over the holidays and they had so many activities planned for people who didn't want to ski. It's a great family friendly place with lots to do and see. So many different eating options and bars. It made it so fun to explore the resort and neighboring hotels. Fun little shops to get souvenirs. Loved every minute of it. The Christmas program was wonderful! Go for the holidays if you can!

Convenient and worth the money
The Onsen was very nice, and there were lots of good and affordable food options. The staff wasn't very helpful in getting a taxi and we basically had to do it on our own. At first I was skeptical of the ski locker system, but it actually worked out well. We'd like to return.

Pleasant but…
Overall, we had a pleasant stay. My children enjoyed the free rides on the carousel & swimming in the resort’s pool. The only disappointment we have was the limited choices of food/restaurants available; there was only one or two restaurants that were open & the prices were ridiculous. Most of the guests ended up going across the road to Seico & 711 to buy microwave meals. We would consider coming back if the food situation improves.

Very well equipped ski resort.
Food are not bad, price is ok with the current exchange rate.
Staffs are generally friendly. But it doesn’t allow non ski school beginner to use the magic carpet close to north building. A little bit inconvenient.

Convenient location at the base of West Mt. Thats what you're really paying for.
Otherwise, like other snow resorts, you're paying inflated dining prices. Dining options are limited to certain times.
Facilities are mostly nice, however, it could be done up to freshen up the resort.
Staff are helpful when approached. Most speak enough english to get you by.

Overall the resort stay is good value for money (summer), it has everything onsite, amusement park, shopping, food etc. some downside could be: the hotel room bathroom being a little dated, they don't do cleaning daily, but they do at least change your towels for you. Being a hotel, noise from your neighbors could be a problem (talking loudly in their room or outside in the corridors, slamming the door etc esp at night or in the early morning). They also provide coffee bags and teas in room. Location wise it seems to be quite ok, as we were able to drive (south) to Lake Toya in under 30mins or so, city of Date, Muroran, Noboribetsu etc. to the north, niseko, and if you like to the East is Jozenkei, all within about an hour. Plenty of Parking and is free. You also have access as a resort guest to Westin's onsen. The monorail is cute! Just note that this is in the summer where it's not the resort ski season so everything is very chill and not too crowded, I think things might get a bit different in the winter busy season though :)

The Rusutsu Resort Hotel is a well-oiled machine - all the staff are polite, helpful and they are used to moving lots of people at once. Rooms are clean and reasonably large for Japan. The rooms and facilities are dated; it feels very 90s. Main areas could use a refresh, especially the carpeting in the hallways. Expect to have to walk a lot to get anywhere: to your room, to the ski locker, to restaurants, to the ski hill. Could be really noisy depending on your room’s proximity to the elevators as lots of people constantly moving about. We tried breakfast (included) at different spots; service again impeccable but the food wasn’t anything special. Restaurants on site are very expensive; resort pricing in full effect here. Try to make reservations at the smaller restaurants off site for better value.
