Seikora Ryokan in Kyoto
It was one of the most unique experience I’ve had in all my travels. It was like another world. We had dinner & breakfast which were both excellent! The service was wonderful. There was a public bath which was also an enjoyable experience! Overall, it was totally worth the expense

We were vegetarian and do not eat egg. We couldn’t find anything. As the veggies were also cooked in fish oil. According to the price we paid room was real cozy and small for 3 people. Also, the AC was not working all night.

Hospitality defined!
What an amazing experience. Our stay at Seikoro ryokan immersed us into the heart of Japanese culture. Our kids were very impressed by the many ceremonials around tea, dinner, bath, and the staff was incredibly nice & welcoming. We all slept really well on the mats. Highly recommend this place.

Amazing authentic Japanese experience!
Such an amazing authentic experience! We loved the facility as well as the staff. Quick warning - wi-fi signal was very faint.

Good 6.0
attentive staff but overpriced for what you get
The staff at Seikoro Ryokan was wonderful--attentive and helpful--as I would expect from a ryokan. My main complaint is about the general condition of the place and the price. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, were worn out and musty. The towel were old and worn, there was aftershave, moisturizer, etc. in scuffed up bottles that looked they were about 30 years old. The heating was very difficult to control, making the rooms overheated. This was especially problematic as the only bedding option was very heavy quilts. The futons were not real futons but rather folded up foam mats that like one would used for budget camping in the 70s. All of this would have been fine (and I certain expect the ryokan experience to be different from an ordinary hotel), had the room not cost 3x as much as the wonderful and Hotel Kanra that we also stayed at in Kyoto. It also offered traditional Japanese furniture, tatami, etc. but was wonderfully clean and up-to-date in every way (and the staff there was very helpful and attentive as well)--at about 1/3 the price.

Fantastic Ryokan
Unbelievable gracious service. Mayu was so kind and helpful at every turn. Lovely place and staff.

Wonderful adventure
Great experience. Definitely recommend this for a bit of cultural immersion. Very traditional and over the top on service--lovely tea service upon arrival and attention to detail throughout. Food was unusual and well worth ordering. Public bath also worth a try, with private option if not so inclined. Floor bedding was completely comfortable. Be aware of the traffic noise if you're a light sleeper, the only negative. We also had trouble with the booking, so double check that you have listed the right number of people in your party as room sizes vary. This was issue, not the ryokan's. Overall, highly recommend the stay.

It was great! If you are looking for a traditional Japanese hotel experience this is the place. The hotel staff is amazing! So kind and helpful. I was concerned about sleeping but the bed was super comfortable. Happy we stayed here!

Unbelievable service. Great food. A wonderful experience through and through. We stayed through Typhoon Jebi. While the building lost power the staff lit candles and still were able to prepare our dinner

This was an amazing traditional ryokan experience. The staff, especially Mayu, were fantastic, the kaiseki (dinner) was exceptional, and the stay was just simply perfect. I'd highly recommend Seikoro for the traditional, wonderful ryokan experience in Kyoto.
