Sand Sea Resort, Krabi

This review is actually really hard to write. Railay Beach, especially the west side, is absolutely stunning. The beach is clean, good visibility (not clear enough to snorkel), has gorgeous limestone cliffs on either side of the beach, and affordable food and drinks in the strip connecting the east and west sides. Sand Sea’s location on the peninsula is perfect, and I’m not sure you could get much better. We booked a bungalow room with a cot for three people. When we arrived, the room was filled with mosquitos, and we were getting bitten profusely despite having bug spray on already. We informed the staff who said they could spray the room down with mosquito spray and place guards on the windows and doors, but they never did. The bungalow that we had was definitely one of the oldest buildings in the property and was not clean (stains throughout the room). We noticed a lot of the other rooms on the property appeared more recently renovated, and would recommend booking those rooms over the bungalow. Upon checkout, we were told we had taken a set of the flip flops they provided in the room. After an hour of miscommunication, going back and forth to the room, and being told we had used the flip flops that were still there because “they smelled like the had been used”, was really all of the energy we had left for this place. I think our experience was somewhat unique because this is a popular spot, but I don’t think we would stay here again, unfortunately.

The location on Railay Beach is incredible. I spent most of my time lying in the chairs by the beach looking at the beautiful view. The resort didn't sell alcohol, which I found to be a big negative. I had to walk to the resort next door's bar and carry my cocktail back. The food was mediocre but I found all of the food on Railay to be of the same caliber. The room itself was very comfortable but the hot water pressure was very low. We complained about this and there was no follow-up.

The rooms were nice and clean. Mattress was pretty firm, but have found that to be true of most places in Thailand. The breakfast is good and the view is amazing! Most rooms don’t have views of the ocean, but is a very short walk. The pools are nice, but the one with the ocean view is very busy. We were welcomed with a drink a check in and given complimentary massages. Railay is pretty so small so there is not a bad location,but I would recommend here over the other side of the island. This was more expensive than most of the places we stayed at in Thailand, but again you can expect that with most places in Railay. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it!

I booked a room specifically the one with a bathtub, however I couldn't use it. The faucet and the shower were too dirty and moldy... I took quick showers only. And also it was super noisy for me becuz the building next was howling! I asked the reception if it would stop for the night and she said it will stop around 10 p.m. Yes, it did at sometime, however it started making noise again before 5! So, if you are sensitive like me, check before you actually unpack your stuff, and make sure you run away as far as you can. Plus, that area smells not nice, too. Well, most of the staffs were nice though... Except the server at dinner kept bring me the food I didn't order;;

The Sand sea is in a perfect location on Railay. It is one of 3 hotels in the west side of the beach. The service was great. The hotel overall and the rooms could use a facelift though. We did love the garden villa we stayed in!
