Bed & Breakfast Testaccio, Rome

The hostess, Elena was very friendly/helpful. The room was very basic, but clean and in an "authentic" neighborhood. Good breakfast at the bar next door. Good access to bus service to all destinations. I would return.

Clean and friendly in a unique, connected 'hood
First off: Elena, the manager, is fantastic. She had our room ready ahead of schedule to match our arrival, setup a free crib for our 7 month-old, gave us a thorough bus / walking route overview (including a GREAT spot on the Aventine hill), and was generally a happy and energetic presence during our stay. Our room was simply furnished, and spotlessly clean. The B&B is on the 3rd floor (we'd say 4th in the U.S.), but there's an elevator if your legs are tired. The neighborhood is not heavily touristed (yet), and is home to a handful of theaters, several good restaurants, a nice market, and lots of Romans who aren't in tourism industries. So we generally spoke our poor Italian there (though not with Elena, who has a good command of English) on our way to a couple of the best meals of our trip, and one or two slightly chilly receptions. Although the neighborhood is a longer but pleasant walk from the main postcard sites, there are bus options, and its train connections were great: we walked to the B&B after arriving at Ostiense from Florence, walked back to Pyrimide for the short ride to and from Ostia Antica, and then back to Ostiense to catch the train to Fiumicino airport. The breakfast was coupons for an Italian-style (a coffee drink, a delicious pastry, and some juice) colazione at the cafe downstairs, but if that's not your style, you can cash out the coupon for a few euros instead. We had a great experience and would certainly stay here again.

Rome among the locals
My husband and I really enjoyed our 5 day stay in this quaint B&B in the Testaccio neighborhood which is a family-friendly location overlooking a park. Elena(manager) speaks English and was so welcoming and helpful with directions! She gave us the large room with a balcony overlooking the park (request this room)where we enjoyed watching the friendly Testaccio locals. The room was reasonably priced, clean and spacious with a private bathroom. The beds(3) were comfortable and there was ample space in the closets for our things. It is close to buses which we used to visit the many sights in Rome. We had a voucher for coffee and a pastry each morning. We would definitely stay there again!

A little bit of Roman heaven
Situatued in the untouched area of Rome, my family and I had a wonderful stay at Bed & Breakfast Testaccio. There are excellent transport links, with the Metro a 10 minute walk away away and a regular bus service to the heart of the city centre. The owners could not do enough form us and when we were an hour late, they were waiting, with a smile on their faces, even though we had kept them up late to meet us on our arrival. Breakfast was nice, a Cornetto (Italian for croissant) and the cappucino was to die for! The room was very clean and tidy and was everything we needed for our stay. the beds were excellent and the wifi was great. Overall, we would highly recommend the B&B to anyone going to this amazing city. we cannot recommend it enough.

Exquisite, Enchanting and Excellent!!
Elena created an atmosphere of a home away from home, she provided us with more than we paid for. She was warm, friendly and very approachable. She gave us maps, directions, bus numbers and even places to visit close by on foot. Testaccio was a fun and vibrant place buzzing with interesting locals and delicious food and drink, all within easy reach of the B&B. Overlooking our balcony was Piazza Santa Maria which gave us a vibrant insight into Italian culture. People were friendly, they even stopped and had a chat with us on the road. We spent many an evening watching the locals eat, drink and walk their dog below our balcony and our eight year old soaked in the Italian way of life with immense fascination. The rooms were clean, spacious and the quality of service was second to none. The location was ideal as it wasn't far from the main attractions of Rome and was easily accessible via public transport. Thank you Elena for making our stay memorable and for looking after us so well. We have no hesitation recommending Testaccio B&B, also will definately want to go back there again!!!
