I will never go back
I arrived 2:30pm, they told me the room will be ready at 3:20pm. I went back at 3:20pm, the girl said it's not ready, she upgraded me to 2006 but I need to wait a little more. At 4:30pm, I asked her, she gave me 706, I told her what happened to the upgrade, I was waiting 2 hours, she said I can wait more if I want. I did. It was 5:40pm that the other girl (very rude, her name sounds like America) gave me 1506, the room had to heat. I went downstairs and told her that. She said someone will be upstairs (telephone didn't work either). Nothing. Long story short, at 6pm, she gave me the key of 2006, the original room. Next day I went downstairs and requested for a manager, to tell me why it took 4 hours to check me in. The girl in the front desk said she will call me. They never did. This is all very unpleasant and if this is what hospitality or service means to these people, they should find another job. I'm overall very di-satisfied with this. The black girl told me she was a supervisor that day, it was no apology, no I'm sorry, nothing. On the contrary, when I tried to complain about the 4 hour delay she was dismissive and she wasn't even looking at me. I am fine if she hates her job, that happens, but an apology, a simple sorry would make some difference. Shame for everyone there. Will never go back.

39th street hotel
I've stayed at the Element since it opened. The property is in need of a good, healthy, upgrade and wipe down. OVERALL, the place is nice, the rooms are well laid out with full mini kitchenettes. Rooms are typical NYC size. The place needs a close up and intensive wipe down and good scrubbing from front to back. The corners of the floor, at the back of the bed, below the AC, in the bath, near the shower need someone to come in with a scrub brush and get the grunge scraped off and mopped up. The elevators need to have an elevator engineer or someone look at the things front to back, top to bottom as elevators 2 and 3 hit something on each floor as they are going up. Lights in the elevators are a shamble, doors scrape, and so on. Scheduling cleaning and towel distribution staff use of the elevators severely undercuts the paying customer access to the elevators. Schedule the movement of towels and sheets after hours when we are alllllll asleep, not at 5:00 PM when the entire place is going out to dinner would be a good idea.I understand that staffing is tough, but someone needs to be on top of the general maintenance of the joint. The street is a bum nightmare; with the investment that the hotel has in the building, getting someone to clean up the junk, filth, vomit, left behind from the street person parade after hours would be a good investment. AND clean up your own garbage pit on the first floor, if there aren't rats living in that mess, I would be very surprised.

No place to stay in NYC for Lion King weekend
So I booked my room a month in advance with element, for my weekend with three other family member and our young children to see lion king. On the day of our checkin my cousin received a notification in her inbox that her reservation has been cancelled. She calls the hotel and they said they overbooked due to a system error so they got her a hotel with Fairfield inn manhattan, neither me or my other family member received a notification but we call anyway and ask if we still have our rooms, and they say yes! My cousin is livid, but we talk her down and tell her she can share with us, nothing will ruin the lion king! So we get there and there’s a line of folks, come to find out they have no place to stay and the hotel is moving people due to a booking error. I get to the counter and it seems I’m in the same predicament, and they got me a room at Fairfield but I have to pay. No manage is onsite for this issue, and they tell us that the refund will take awhile. It is now two weeks later 5/16/19, and I still don’t have a refund. On top of that element didn’t even want to give me a receipt saying I was to receive one, after 20 minutes I finally get one after being talked over by a another female employee there when I just wanted a place to stay. The cherry on the cake is we get to Fairfield and they say it free, but find out a week later a bill for my stay from them too. Thank you element and Fairfield inn Manhattan for trying to ruin our lion king weekend, but it was a great show

Place to stay in the heart of Times Suare
The desk clerks were friendly, very curteous and extremely helpful. The housekeeping workers were very nice but they don't have appropriate equipment to clean with. For some reason they were very slow to come to clean even before the elevator problems. Most of them could NOT speak English nor any other language(thank God I speak Spanish). In the future it would be advisable for them to get a group that is composed of people who can speak several languages between them as this hotel is in Times Square and it's like the UN there. Also, there were a few elevator problems there and they were still there a week later when we checked out. They have fourty floors and it made it really difficult and slow when going up and down to go and come from the hotel. Most of the clerks could only speak Spanish and English, so most of the guests didn't understand and thought that they only ran the one working elevator and were wondering why the others weren't being used. And they use one elevator for the housekeeping people and the people picking up the trash so, that brought it down to only one elevator for 40 floors! There was a broken lamp with light bulb hanging down, the floors got dirty fast, it was a room for the disabled and the toilet was hard to flush and toilet paper was in one of those metal boxes where the top one was locked up and it was a little far to reach. The drain cover was not attached and kept moving off the drain. The double boiler was missing the pot, the coffee pot did

My expectations were higher!
The location is awesome, the room size was good and the front desk staff was awesome. That is where it takes a turn. Our room "with a view" was on the 25th floor. But our view was of another building under construction. Our room had crumbs of food on the desk and on the floor. The room was not clean! Cleanliness is the number 1 thing I search for in a hotel. People always write in their review, "it was clean for New York". For a hotel that was rated over 4 for cleanliness, it did not match that rating. We went to a store and purchased wipes so we could clean the room. That was very disappointing. Also, the elevators are a nuisance. It would take 30 minutes to get to the lobby. Sometimes, we just walked down 25 flights. It would not be so bad if they could program the elevators not to stop on every floor when the elevator was full. VERY ANNOYING. Finally, on our last night at 130am a fire alarm went off. This turned out to be a false alarm, but the alarm itself made me feel like it was a bombing raid. I still hear that sound and the Fire Services Director did not calm people down with his voice, he only made it worse by powering up talking to people over the loudspeaker. The bed was comfortable and was a king liked we asked. Other than location, this was a disappointing stay! I would not go back here until the elevators are fixed!
