Safe, quiet hotel near the ocean in Miraflores
After an exciting but challenging group trip in the Amazon and then climbing Machu Picchu and other Inca ruins, we wanted a quiet little hotel near the ocean in Lima for four days of R&R. While the sun only came out about two hours during our stay there, we loved the neighborhood, walking along the wonderful promenade along the coast, enjoying the giant shopping area built on the side of the cliff and getting souvenirs at the Inca Market. But...we never made it into the tiny swimming pool at Llaqta.

Money stolen from room safe
The breakfast was very good and most of the staff was nice but all of this was overshadowed by a significant theft of money from our room safe. There is too much access to the room by the staff. They said there are cameras to see who went in to the room but we haven't heard any more from the hotel.

Excellent hostal in Lima
Very good location. The service, cleaniness and upkeep of my room was above average compared with other hostal I stayed in the past. I will go back if I find another discounted promotion. The regular price is average but the promotion I got gave me an excelent value. For smokers, this is a non-smoking hotel and signs saying so inside the room, however outside the room is open air and no signs prohibiting smoking, so there is no need to go outside the hotel. Who wants to smoke inside your room anyway?

A pleasant experience
If you're looking for a quiet, simple, and peaceful hotel near the "hustle and bustle" of Miraflores, this is the place. I had a double bed with a view overlooking the pool. The room and washroom are clean. Breakfast is included and there are many options. There is also a cook nearby who can whip up some eggs to your liking. It was splendid! Another huge plus is the hotel's proximity to the water. So for the price it's worth the stay. By the way, a taxi costs $25 to or from the airport (one way). The drawbacks: you always have to buzz in when returning to the hotel. It usually doesn't take too long for the clerk to buzz you in, but it's still a bit inconvenient. Also, there was constant construction in the area so tour buses couldn't access the hotel. Thankfully they were not doing any work during overnight hours. So if you want a quaint, simple hotel that's really affordable, consider this one.
