The Gibside, a grand place to stay
The hotel caters for a wide range of different interests - there was an Adele Tribute Night with an Italian-themed meal while we were staying - and one of its best assets is the top-floor bar area with fabulous panoramic views over the Newcastle area. An excellent hotel in a great location for exploring the area.

Not even good
The hotel bed was uncomfortable, the toilet seat was hanging off and waited over 24 hours for it to be fixed, a smell in the bathroom of sewage, no spare toilet roll in room, shaving mirror detached on one side, bath was very slow to empty unless the plug was removed completely. Staff were polite but no urgency to solve issues for guests, for the cost of this hotel compared to a low budget one I would say the latter would be a better choice for me.
