Exceptional
Basic, but pleasant
This, family, locally run, hotel is more like a European B&B, small and intimate with a friendly staff. My room was spacious. Breakfast is limited, but does the job. It's located in a neighborhood but near many amenities. Parking is free on the street. I stayed 5 nights and was always able to find a space. For the price, it is well worth it. I've stayed in many nearby hotels, but will return to this one when I visit again.

Meh
I was about to shower and leave the hotel but found the shower did not work. There were a few stains on the bedding and flooring as well. Bed was great and service was good too. Definitely more of a budget hotel.

$ 50 mystery charge turns out to be parking pass
Although prepaid in full ($ 141 for a Sunday to Monday to visit a nearby consulate from out of town) coming to $ 161 after taxes and fees for 2 queen-size beds upstairs with no elevator, we got charged an extra $ 50 "deposit" without explanation. It turns out the next morning that we can only get our $ 50 "deposit" back, when we turn in the printed "park passes" we were told to place into our windshield (one per day, before midnight, another one valid after midnight). We said the night before that we had an appointment at 8 AM nearby, and would be done in 20 min, therefore leaving before 9 am. We checked out around 7:35 am to walk off and left our car parked, then returned we'll before 8:40 and turned in the "park pass" and we're handed our $ 50 "precharge". I will make a note to check my credit card bill to make sure they don't try to sneak in this extra $ 50 anyways. So Monday is Street Cleaning, and cars must be gone by 9 am to avoid to be ticketed $ 68 for parking during street cleaning 9 am to 12 pm, which my husband insisted on getting at 09:26 that same morning in Beverly Hills, financing the stars...in the streets.
