Lovely stay
I stayed in a very large room with a double bed. The bathroom only had a tub - perfect excuse to take a long bath daily. Skylights were a nice touch. The floors creaked a ton. Neighboring guests could be heard talking in the hallways and snoring in their rooms. Hostesses are friendly. Breakfast from the restaurant is quite nice. Very cute property. Shops and restaurants walking distance. WiFi was available. Electric water heater, tea, and coffee in the rooms.

Just what I needed
Although Banbury is not an English town visited by a large number of Americans, or tourists for that matter, that was part of the draw. Planning my first visit, solo, I chose this place to stay upon arrival specifically to relax and recover from jet lag. The hostess greeted me in the small, warm, wood-paneled entry hall of a restored farm house, up a hill a short distance from the city centre. Got a room and bath with a street view; small, but adequate for one. Floor a bit creaky; could hear other guests' footsteps, but this is an old, timber-frame structure. Full English breakfast is served in a quiet, comfortable dining room. Dinner is also offered, at extra cost. There's a lounge with a TV, and a seating area in the garden. Whether travelling alone or with a partner, this is an ideal retreat.

Excellent wifi, good breakfast, clean hotel
I chose Banbury to be close to Oxford, Stratford, and a direct London line. Last train service from Stratford is 11:15, which allowed me to see a play at the RSC, have a pint, and still make it back. The hotel is farther from the train station than I had hoped, plus it is up a hill, so I chose to use a taxi to go up and to walk down (taxis are still available at the rr station to meet that last train). It's a very pleasant B&B and I only regret I wasn't able to partake of the afternoon tea.
