Very Good8.0
Abergris Caye had a huge issue with the sea grass piling up on the beach and rotting this visit. It was not the resorts fault, however you could not go for a swim in the ocean. During our stay they were gradually cleaning it up. The resort itself for the price is nice, its clean and has the basics for a good price. The mattresses were very hard, but looked replaced recently. It however is aging and has very basic rooms, there was a small fridge in our room which was appreciated and the air conditioning looks upgraded, and worked fine. Breakfast is included, however it is the same day after day, so if you want variety, there is only so many ways you can get your eggs done. El Divono's (their restaurant) has excellent food, but its very pricey. In fact a lot of San Pedro has gotten very pricey, so shop around for if you want cheaper prices. Internet is spotty. It is unsecure and constantly going up and down.

Unless there is no other place to stay....
This place is run down. One day upon returning from a snorkeling trip, we discovered that the maid forgot to place any towels in the bathroom, so we had to wait to take a shower until they brought them to us-that is a VERY basic service and can't believe it was overlooked. Also, upon returning from another activity, my husband's C-pap hose was on the floor. This is a medical devise he uses to breath from and when he called to complain, the manager brought a security guard with him to our room to hear what my husband had to say about how this should be treated-not just for us but for other guests who may also use this type of devise. There was no explanation of the property and it's amenities. The pool was not heated and what I thought was a hot tub/spa within the pool was not hot, but was actually a cold whirpool within the pool. It would have been nice to have been told about it at check-in, but instead read about it in the book about the hotel in the room. I rate this place very low, because the receptionist was impersonal and not welcoming, the maids seemed confused about how many and what type of towels to place in the bathroom, to the aging furniture, faded chaise cushions and drawers that would not open. Also, our "suite" had a view of the wall next door through worn frosted-over windows. There are better places to stay. The restaurant El Divino was good.

belize banana beach
The staff and restaurant were fantastic. We liked the area as it was quieter than being right on the main area. We liked both pools, especially the smaller one.

Location: south of the town center, only 7-12 min of Golf Cart ride. I found the location convenient. Make sure that you rent a golf cart or prepared to pay for cabs. Rides to town are around $10 BZ Room: the rooms are dated and will require some work very soon. The bed was great - I slept very well. Something that I experienced and apparently many others in the hotel (heard people talking about it during breakfast) is the paper thin walls. For us it was in the bathroom, I felt like I am sharing the shower with the person in the room next to me. I could hear their conversation like they were standing next to me. Some people experienced it with their room walls. Service: I would say 2/5 stars since the restaurant people weren't nice at all (they were only nice to few couples that seem to come there a lot) - I always carry with me cash to for tips, but they worked really hard to make me decide that they should not get a tip from me. Front desk was cold to us, and we felt very unwelcomed (after they found out that we are renting a golf cart from another company and not from them which is a savings of $25 USD a day ($50 vs $75). However, the front desk lady was very nice to us when we checked out (had no other interactions with her). Cleaning ladies were very nice and did a very good job cleaning the room (that is why I gave them two stars and not 0 for service)
