Hostal Marbella is going down hill fast
Having stayed at The Marbella several times in the past and always left positive reviews, we were so disappointed with our stay this time. We chose to pay extra for the suite, E62 room 306 and booked 8 nights, the ownership of this hotel has changed hands and boy does it show, gone are the memory foam mattresses replaces with cheap 2" foam, and awful steel bedhead which constantly bangs our wall and your neighbors, ill fitting bed linen, double on a king size bed, ended up with no bedding every night, terrible drain smell coming from the bathroom, which has recently been re-modelled with no "trap" on the drains, balcony sliders difficult to open and even more difficult to close. TV has one English channel, which is unwatchable as the reception is so poor, WI FI is almost non existent, comes and goes, only barely good for email. If you're lucky enough to get the suite, you gain a fridge which goes off every time you leave the room and a kettle, what for I don't know, as there are no cups or even one sachet of tea or coffee, also no drinking glasses. We are so disappointed that this hotel has been allowed to deteriorate so much in the last 12 months, there is an air of poor maintenance throughout the whole hotel and to be honest none of the management seem to care or even notice, it's such a shame as the location is good for the town center.

Great location, friendly staff.
Located on a pedestrian street near to lots of lovely restaurants and the beach. Reception staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Spoke good English. I would go back again. If I had any quibbles, it would be these: Bathroom fresh and modern although bath really small and no hook to hang the showerhead. Bedroom lighting a bit dark. Didn't matter though. Ordered a double room and got a twin. Didn't matter either. Ordered a no-smoking room but slight smell of smoke, maybe rising up from the patio downstairs. Clean, but there were a couple of hairs in the bath when I arrived. Easily washed away.
