Relais Hotel Du Vieux Paris, Paris
Parisian hospitality?
The location was ideal, clean and quiet, and very close to the Seine River and the Latin Quarter, which we adored. I read many good reviews about the host, Henri. I only got to meet him upon checkout and he seemed very charming. But the host in charge while we were there was Alan and he wasn't welcoming at all. In fact, he made us feel uncomfortable and you have to leave your room key with him each time you leave.

Great hotel
Hotel was fantastic. Superb location - quiet street in a very busy area. Helpful staff, decent sized room with giant windows that open. Highly recommended!

Our stay at the Relais Hotel was the perfect French experience. The beautiful furnishings, amazing location, deliciously prepared breakfast, and personal care we received from the staff were the finishing touches. We most definitely will be back!

I travel a TON and this is my first review of a hotel. I stayed at this particular hotel on a trip with my girlfriend. This hotel was very small and uncomfortable. It was hot, stuffy and the AC was turned off in the entire building. When we complained about our hot and stuffy room, the owner (who was wearing a coat) acted as if she was cold so apparently, there was no need to have AC in the entire building for the paying guests. We had planned on a 4-night stay but we had a room facing an open courtyard so we couldn't open our windows for fresh air without being able to see directly into the other 2 rooms windows. (No shear window privacy drapes) Since the AC was turned off in the entire building we were forced to sleep with the windows open and deal with people looking in at us. The room was incredibly stuffy and uncomfortable so we opted to move hotels and try to get a refund for the next 3 days that we wouldn't be using. That turned into an hour-long hot sweaty argument between the manager, the owner,, and myself. It was futile… Even though we were willing to pay for the first night at FULL POP, neither the owner OR would accommodate our refund request. The basic answer from both parties was, you booked it, you own it – no matter the conditions. This was infuriating beyond belief and it felt like we were getting completely screwed by both parties. In the end, we lost $951 for the rooms on top of the price for booking new rooms at a new hotel.
