Bare bones hotel in convenient location
Access to Metro almost literally outside the front door, walking distance to Le Louvre Notre Dame, etc. Friendly staff, hair dryer, small safe in room. But no A/C, no other amenities, thin towels. A bar downstairs below the rooms.

Older hotel in the heart of Paris
Location is definitely the selling point on this hotel. It's a short walk to both the Louvre and the Ile de Cite. There's also a Metro stop literally outside of the door that links to several different lines. As for the room itself, it has seen better days. I was in a single room on the top floor (fortunately there is a small elevator). It was a warm weekend, so I kept my window open even though there was traffic noise pretty late into the night. Trying to shower is a bit of a challenge because it's so tiny. And it's not a spotless bathroom due to being older, but it wasn't disgusting either. The bed was comfortable enough for a good night's sleep, so no complaints there. For the price & location, it's good for a one or two night stay.

Mediocre at best, but close to major sights
For the most part, the room and the stay was quite nice, but there were some things that I could have definitely done without. To start off with the positives, the hotel is in a pretty nice area with great proximity to Notre Dame, Le Louvre, and the Seine. There were plenty of food options around and there was also a great grocery store right next to the hotel for some lovely on a budget food options. The room itself was not a bad size and the bed was fairly comfortable. Now on to the negatives. First off, when we arrived there was no one at the front desk even though there is supposed to be someone there 24 hours. We waited around for about 20-30 minutes before a grouchy man showed up, barely even greet us, and shoved a key at me. The other members of the reception staff were quite nice, but every time this guy was at the desk he wouldn't say hello to anyone, and often times he wouldn't even be there to help you. The staircase was kind of horrible to climb up and down and it was often dark in the stairwell so it was very easy to fall. The shower was by far the worst part. The water was either scalding hot or freezing cold, there wasn't really any room to set toiletries down, and no adult human being could possibly bend down in that shower. Despite those negatives, it wasn't a horrible stay and I really enjoyed being so close to things, but you probably could get something better for your money.

Bare bones hotel but close to major attractions
When we first arrived, there was no one manning the desk. Worse was that there was luggage sitting out, and anyone could have come in and taken the luggage in the time the desk clerk was gone. The lift is tiny, barely fitting 2 people and 2 suitcases. The room was small, maybe 10x8ft. There is no a/c, which was a problem as Paris was hot during our stay. We tried to leave the windows open, but it was quite noisy at night. The bathroom looked dirty and I was afraid to step in there without shoes on - even in the tub. There is a tub with a shower head. On the plus side, it is very close to all the major sites and to the Chatelet stop. There's even an entrance right outside the hotel. However, given the heat and the somewhat dirty appearance, I ended up leaving earlier than planned.
