Exceptional
Very Good Value for Money
This hotel offers excellent value for money. The receptionists speak good English and were helpful whenever i needed their assistance. Breakfast was fresh and offered a range of western and eastern options. I highly recommend this place as a no-frills traveler. There are several average eateries around. I will recommend a deep clean of their room carpet though.

Fair
Hot and muggy in Shanghai
My room was hot and muggy - never less than 75 F (24 C) and typically 77 F (25 C) or more. I complained about it and they sent "engineering" up to supposedly fix the problem. The nice man fiddled with the thermostat and suggested I instead open the small window to the warm and muggy outside. In reality the air conditioning system had been turned off to conserve energy but I am sure he had been instructed not to talk about that. I am all in favor of energy conservation, but when a hotel advertises itself as a 5-star hotel with air conditioning, that is what I pay for and that is what I expect to get. Otherwise the hotel was fine.
