Pleasant Stay
Best thing about Bakehouse B&B is its central location; within easy walking distance of Sherborne Abbey and of the Cheap Street shopping district. Malcolm Bakehouses owner/proprietor is an amiable chap and will cook you a hardy English breakfast to order. The two east facing rooms have pretty views of the Abbey steeple over roof tops.

good value for money and friendly
Was greeted by the owner Malcolm and his dog Charlie. I was given an upgrade to a large room and bathroom. The room was at the front and by the road. If you don't like noise this bedroom isn't for you but didn't bother me. The breakfast choice was good and tea and toast was in abundance this is an old house but has a home from home feel. I slept well and enjoyed my stay and will be going back.

Lovely Host
Malcolm was a lovely host and was very friendly on the first impression. Lovely homely feel to the bed and breakfast and nothing was too much trouble for Malcolm.

Great - not just for dogs!
Really warm welcome for both children and dog. Malcolm took great trouble to see that we had everything we needed. Fantastic breakfast. Lovely view of the abbey from our window.

It is difficult to write this. the owner trult is a nice man. The hotel is rustic, which is not a bad thing. Rustic does not automatically mean dirty. The hotel is dirty and unkept. A two hundered year old building can still be maintained: the cob webs can be cleaned, the grime on the chrome fixtures can be shined, the holes in the corners can be filled in. Well, none of this was done at this place. The holes in the walls and corners, made me pray that nothing crawled out of them while I slept. There was a layer of filth on everything. i had to clean the fixtures before I touched them. The duvet on the bed had lipstick and some other filth on it. When I tried to bring something very minor to thw owner's attention, he became defensive and reminded me that the building was over two hundred years old. I feel bad for him. He appears to have grown complacent. The photos online are NOT at all a true reflection of the actual hotel. I wish I had the extra money to go elsewhere, but I had already paid for this place. I will never go back. He needs to shut the place down for two weeks, clean it, hire new cleaners, then reopen it. Only then would it be a nice place. Oh, the rug on the naked stone floor had not been vacuumed, either. I cannot recommend this place. I sincerely hope will investigate this. I would have taken photos, but the necessary details would not have shown up properly.
