Great Location for a place to Crash
Clean and easy. If you need to stay in this area and spend most of your time away from the room on foot, it is perfect.

Overpriced for what it is. Would've shelled out another $50 for a nice hotel

Nice place
I arrived very early in the morning (around 2am), and I called the phone number and it took a few minutes for the gentleman to appear and give me the keys to the guesthouse and my room. The room was clean and spacious. The guesthouse is positioned very close to the Harpa Center, which is where I was going. There is a grocery store (1011) close by that is open 24/7 and they provide a common refrigerator for everyone to use. NOTE -- because the water in the shower is geothermal it smells like rotten eggs (from what I've been told this is a common occurrence in Iceland).

Only go here if you like camping in a tent
I booked this room (and was charged) for 3 nights but only stayed the first, because it was worse than a youth hostel, in my reckoning. At least in a youth hostel it is clean and you can leave your luggage there after check in if you need to, and there are friendly staff to help you with tourist info. The floor of the room was filthy, the room was the size a large closet, it was cold even with the heater on, the shower drain was clogged so that you could use just a little water at a time so as not to flood the bathroom. There were no hooks or anywhere to unpack belongings, and no one onsite to help you out. Then you add in the customary noise of a guesthouse, people coming in and out, it's hard to sleep, and the check out being 10am, it was worth it for me to change to a nice hotel far from downtown which charged me a fifth more of the price than Skolabru. I was glad I did so, it's not good to suffer on vacation.

Great Value and Location
Great Value and Location. Shared Kitchenette with reserved refrigerator space for each room allows you to prepare simple meals and avoid eating out all the time since restaurants are pricey in Iceland. Shared bathrooms but never had to wait to use. All around great experience here. Tip: If going to the grocery store, check to see what items are already available for free in the kitchen area, as previous guest leave extra things like coffee, tea, sugar, salt etc.
