Unique in it's own way
Casa Lola is super beautiful and nice. Not the same hotel rooms, chique and unique. I will recommend this for couples or honeymooners or if you just want to relax and chill. Sercive is TOP, the people are very customer friendly over there.

Colonial living with internet
This is a good hotel but by no means a 4 stars. It's an old house updated to become a hotel. Interior of rooms preserves the colonial style - which is nice but does not provide the comfort of modern hotels. All rooms are different but my "superior" room had windows to the indoor patio where people walk all the time and are able to see you unless you use the blackout curtains. Noise insulation from hallway is also very poor. Decoration is at least controversial - if trying to preserve the Cartagena style, why on earth was there a wooden moose head in the room? Pools are nice but mostly decorative, with a nice deck on the terrace around two very small pools. Breakfast was really good and the location in the back patio very nice with a lot of character. Reception people were nice and helpful. Location is in the old town but not in the nicely preserved part of the walled city, which is about half a mile away. The neighborhood seemed safe but not very clean. Area was mostly filled with locals.

The hotel was fantastic and my wife and I would highly recommend. If you don't speak Spanish their staff speaks great English.

Very bad hotel in Colombia
Was in Cartagena (staying somewhere else in the colonial part) and went to hotel as wanted to know how to get there as it seems to be a bit far. Well, turned out to be a very average neighborhood (and am being nice) and being there is not at all the feeling of being in the old city. Had a non refundable booking (for a stay a few days later) so in spite of awful location, decided to go anyway (otherwise would lose our money). This was a mistake as hotel is terrible. No hot water (manager kept apologizing but we found out several people are experiencing the same but had not complained). Service was very poor, breakfast was a joke (no more than one cup of coffee, very stingy) and, the internet, don't even try. We should have forfeited our money and stayed where we had already stayed. Management is very bad as besides apologizing, they do to fix anything. Oh and forgot to mention, shower was leaking everywhere. Worse place I stayed in Colombia (and have been there many times). In other words, do not stay there.
