Tranquil and well kept grounds. For those interested in the luxury train to Machu Picchu, the hotel is the starting point of that trek. Nice appointments in the room with plush towels and robes. Sitting areas around the grounds for quiet time. There is one restaurant on the grounds and one must travel about 15-20 mins into town for anything else. The food was carefully prepared for esthetic and taste balance. The service was excellent.

Beautiful rooms and hotel, and alpacas too!
We loved our stay here. The room and overall hotel are unique and exceptionally nice, and the grounds are near the river and beautiful. The service was friendly and professional, and the food was great. The hotel is on the side of a hill facing the river, so it's not good for someone who doesn't like stairs. The grounds are large and grassy, and we loved the chance to feed the alpacas in the morning. Our room here was the nicest of the 5 places we stayed during our trip to Peru. When you first turn from the road to this hotel, you cross a railroad track and begin to worry. When you get to the actual hotel, it's a little like entering paradise.

Great relaxing experience after 7 days of hiking.
We relaxed at Rio Sagrado after hiking the Salkantay trek. What a wonderfull place for relaxation! With only 23 rooms/villas, the place is so quiet and peacefull. One afternoon we had the spa for ourselves. Next afternoon the pool. While at the pool, they brough chilled fruit skewers - complementary. The restaurant is nice and cosy, and had live music on the evenings when we were there at dinner time. Service was great, attentive and friendly, and at the same time discreet. Feeding the baby alpaca in the morning was fun, as was the pisco tasting! It takes a bit less than an hour to walk into Urubamba, which is a nice local town - all the better hotels here seem to be a bit remote.
