Very Enjoyable Stay
Really enjoyed my stay here. The two chaps who run the hotel could not have been more helpful. The room and shower room score top marks for cleanliness and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was large with a really good power shower. My room was at the back and so very quiet. Couldn't open window which wasn't a problem but might be when the weather heats up. We had trouble with taxis on Easter day and so one of the chaps took us to where we wanted to go for a very reasonable price.

Friendly family run hotel
Me and my partner stayed for 3 nights in the small double room at the back of the hotel, it was a quite cosy room, with a lovely hot powerful shower, t.v and tea and coffee facilities. I arrived early at 8.30am , thinking I would have to wait around until my room was available, but they very kindly aloud me to go to my room as soon as i checked in. The breakfast was very good (delicious thick bacon) and a choice of cereal and pastries. They provided us with take away breakfast sandwiches when we had to leave early, nothing was too much for the very helpful friendly staff. We stayed for dinner on our first night, which was English tapas, very deliciously different. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Nice hotel with good amenities.
This hotel is under new ownership and is in the process of renovation. All the same it was very clean and welcoming. Our room was well appointed and very nice. Ideal location in the town centre. Food was very good.

Clean & comfortable.
Very pleasant and friendly staff especially upon check in and at breakfast. Breakfast itself was absolutely excellent! Room was clean and comfortable though no sound proofing which mean't road noise was significant and interior door slamming could be quite annoying. Our room was in need of some wall paint touch up as looked like something quite big had been removed from a wall but not repaired afterwards? Value for money was there and we would stay again.

Gateway to the Downs - leg up required.
The hotel has had a couple of management changes over the years and this is reflected in the overall condition and setup on offer. We had stayed at the White Horse on a previous occasion and the experience from then to now are worlds apart. The good things about the hotel are far outweighed by the bad, service was friendly however the room was tired with holes in the wall that required filling; breakfast was good and plentiful however only when the dining room was open. My wife and I were in the hotel for two nights in one of the top floor rooms that had an electric heater which, was not sufficient to heat the entire room, older guests may want to request an additional blanket.
