The Clarence Hotel, Southsea
Terrible- overpriced, loud and uncomfortable
Terrible. This hotel is ridiculously overpriced. They clearly state on their www that all rooms come with a heated bathroom floor and comfortable luxury beds. Not so. Our bathroom floor was not heated and the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. I took photos of the mattress that sagged in the middle- the hotel put a thin mattress cover on it to try to disguise it. The pillows are like brick- all of them exactly them same except for the fact that some have yellow stains on them. Again I took photos. The walls are so thin that we were woken up both nights by the couple upstairs having their adult fun. The reception is not 24 hours so there is no way to report noise or problems during the night since you are there alone with no staff. It was awful. We also had no radiator in our room and the fan heater blow damp smelly air into our room. This hotel is a joke. I am an experienced luxury boutique hotel traveller having stayed in hotels all over the world. This hotel is one of the worst most overpriced hotel I have ever stayed in and I left tired, cold, damp and extremely ripped off. There is also zero parking as advertised.

Not for us......
All I can say is that we choose to lose a lot of money and not stay, as the area was less than inspirational. Photographs on website did not show what it was actually like, there was no way I would have left an expensive vehicle there.

Lovely area, fabulous room (room 8) with lfor very good Only slight nagative is parking (you are given a permit and have to find a space on the street which for me, was a ten minute walk) But overall, highly recommend and will be staying here on my never business visit down south!

Very nice hotel with friendly helpful staff and a tasty breakfast. The local area was a little grubby, but it was raining!

Romantic get away.
Hotel was ok, I glad I paid a discounted amount for it because I would not of paid the full price. Car park was an issue, finding on road parking wasn’t won’t I was expecting. Attention to detail ie mirror needs replacing.
