Hotel Parklane, Amsterdam
Amsterdam weekend
Fantastic location very close to city center and with a nice small park right across the street!

A decent last resort...
The hotel bailed us out when we were in a pinch. However, we will not be staying there again. There was a foul stench in the bathroom (which we're guessing was the fact that there was a toilet brush). The beds (two twin beds pushed together) were not comfortable and the stairs are a little harrowing when trying to carry luggage up and down (no lift). I recognize that some of the above issues are due to the fact that it's an older Amsterdam building.

Good hotel in good location.
Nice location , walking distance to the center. Nice breakfast. No air conditioner, but there are fans in the room. They have refrigerator and electric kettle in the room, we had tea in the evening, this was very nice. Very quite place, can hear birds, feels like living in the garden.

One night in Amsterdam
We stayed in a family room. It held 4 people very comfortably. The room was huge! The bathroom had a jetted tub with a separate shower. It was nicely appointed with marble tile. The breakfast was very nice too. We ate from a selection of sliced meats, boiled eggs and cheeses along with pastries, fruit, coffee and breakfast cereal available. The hotel is located within walking distance to Dam Square and the Kalverstraat shopping street. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Quirky old hotel in nice and quiet location
This hotel is in one of the old typical Dutch houses. My room was on the top floor which meant climbing three very steep sets of stairs (as you find in these types of houses) I very much liked it, but you should be aware of it if you have mobility issues. The room was comfortable and clean and had a hot water kettle with tea and coffee. the bathroom was large but very outdated. there is only a single point holder for the shower head and it is so high that smaller people would struggle to even reach it. at the same time it was so high that the shower head nearly didn't fit in under the ceiling. I thin kin this day and age it would not be too much to expect an adjustable rail so you can set the height of the shower head to your needs. the other niggle is that the internet connection on this floor was very poor to non existent. I stayed in a room on a lower floor last year and had not problems, but under the roof I had no joy with Wifi. I did not try to the buffet breakfast, so cannot comment on that. I love the area as it has some nice little pubs and also restaurants. the town centre can easily be reached on foot.
