Great budget place to stay.
I chose a private twin room. Firstly it was smell that surprised me, like old, sweaty socks together with old parmesan cheese. Room was clean overall, only under the bed were dozens of dust and some kind of the can that I discovered nearly before leaving- maybe it was the source of the smell. Got a towel in reception together with key. But as I read other reviews before- took a towel from home, I suggest you to do the same. Room is equipped with an electric cattle- so instant meals are easily to make. Hostel is located in a walking distance from several metro stations, shopping mall, Brandenburg gate, Charlie checkpoint, Friedrichstraße station. Great place to use as a budget base for exploring the city. Considering to return :) P.S. you get what you pay for...

Very good value for money
Very convenient, echoes of DDR in this hostel. Clean, but need to BYO toiletries! Staff are polite and correct, german-style. Don't select if 5-star bling is a prerequisite. For very good value for money, you cannot go far wrong with City Hostel for Berlin!

Bedbugs
There were bedbugs in the dorm that I was assigned to. Told the front desk about the situation and the promptly moved me to a different room and comped me breakfast for the next morning. They handled it very professionally. Besides the bedbug issue, the bathroom emitted a horrible smell that seeped into the room even with the door shut.

We had a great time at City Hostel Berlin. the only difficulty that we have faced was the weak internet but overall we are very satisfied with our choice.

One bedbug climbed on the wall. I killed it and took to the desk.

Great place for a short trip!
Our experience was great! We had a double private room with bathroom and it was perfect for what we needed and the price. Room was spacious, warm, and clean. The hostel is very close to different transportation and you can easily walk to most Berlin’s attractions.

The location was really good. The staff was very nice. The room is big (we booked a couple room with private bathroom). The bathroom and the shower box was dirty. The towels were old and apparently very used. I would not booked the room again.

Maybe if I was younger
Great location for the main tourist attractions but there is literally nothing around at night as far as bars and restaurants go unless you want to go somewhere high end. Hostel itself is very clean and “comfortable enough for the price” but I was given the room next to the elevator and it was extremely loud. Decent stay for a couple nights if it’s your first time in town but do yourself a favor and stay in a more fun neighborhood. I’m 31 but this would be amazing if I were under 25 and wanted to party on a budget every night - this hostel is huge.

Poor 2.0
The shower was broken and I had to ask a couple of times for it to be fixed.
