Great vacation!
It was wonderful! All the staff were great and the atmosphere delightful. Neal was especially helpful! He went above and beyond to help me in any way that he could. I do not have one negative thing to say. I would definitely stay there again. All the staff deserve commendation, and as I said, Neal was superb!

A great place in the UK!
Absolutely great! I leave tomorrow morning and this stay has been the best. The staff could not have been better and more helpful. Neal is super!! He helped me above and beyond! I will definitely look forward to coming back here. The location is great. The rooms beautiful, the food very good, the pints great and the atmosphere the best! All in all a great stay.

Very Good8.0
A few issues but overall good
The only real issue I have with this hotel is that my room was just above the pub and in the evening it was noisy! It was as if they were playing music in my room. If I turned on the TV, I could block some of it but Thursday night I could not possibly have gone to sleep until the festivities were over.Friday night wasn't as bad. I have no idea what was going on down there on Thursday. I was OK with waiting until almost midnight to go to sleep, but for someone who wants to go to bed early, this is not the place for you. But the food was very good, and the bed and chair were comfortable, the rate was reasonable, and I had a nice stay.

Nice rooms, scruffy bar and poor customer service.
Lovely room. Poor customer service, Miserable receptionist on check in who was very eager to take our money for the room. Woken up at 5.30am by what appeared to be bins being moved at the rear of the pub. This lasted for at least half an hour. No hot water for a shower or bath which the hotel were aware of but didn’t bother to inform their guest until we approached them before breakfast. Granted this wasn’t their fault but there was no gesture of good will or a knock on our bedroom door to advise us of this. Room was nice but this wasn’t reflected throughout. We won’t be returning.

Lovely hotel with charm
The hotel is lovely with charm. We were here for Christmas and downstairs in reception and the bar was very nicely decorated. Our room was spacious and the bathroom was well equipped. The beds were comfortable. The only slight issue was a low door way to get in to the room, but not unexpected in a hotel of this age. The hotel is in a fantastic location, and close to the centre of Chester. We loved our stay.
