Bell Hotel, Tewkesbury
Friendly and helpful.
We have stayed before and the room was ok, but this time we stayed in room 2 which was much better, with a great view across the road to the Abbey. The hotel is a very old building so the staircase is quite narrow and some of the floors are a bit uneven (my wife walks with a stick) - not a big problem but something to be aware of. I think are rooms in courtyard outside with dusabled access if required. Staff were particularly helpful and friendly and offered us a late checkout without us even asking (we were going to a wedding at the Abbey so would have been a bit overdressed for wandering around town!)

Shabby and disappointing.
The bedroom was full of damp and as a result smelled awful. The condition of the furniture was in a terrible state and looked like it had been like that for years. The curtains were filthy, and radiator noisy. No WiFi available at all. Greene King really need to spend money on a refurbishment on the Bell hotel if they expect guests to pay and stay. There were no roast meats at all available on a Sunday which given there were several options to choose from reflects a chef with poor stock control. The meal I had in fairness was ok. The bar and restaurant like the rooms was shabby and in dire need of refurbishment. As a result the team understandably don’t have pride in their surroundings, and this shows in the service proposition. I do not recommend the Bell Hotel as a place to stay or visit even for a drink or meal. Very disappointing.

Old world charm
Great old pub and I mean old, late 17 th century in fact. It’s an historic building full of charm. Our double room was quiet and very comfortable. It’s not all plastic and modern because it is an old building so it’s better that fittings etc are kept simple and on the walls rather than gouging into the fabric of the building as you can in a modern place. Good breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was understaffed but they tried as hard as they could and these things happen. I’d happily stay there again.

Usually easily pleased, but for the price I paid I was very disappointed. The area is faultless but the hotel has gone down hill. The repair man must fix and fill everything With a spoon. Ok for 1 night

Very limited parking, and not a lot of available parking spaces near bye.
