Nice Island Hotel that Needs Lots of Improvements!
Hotel was great for most of our stay. The last night, the fan and air conditioner in the room did not work. We called, but since the staff of the hotel leave the area for the night, nom one was there to attend the guests. At night there is no possibility of service, repairs, etc. One maintenance person came early in the afternoon and say that the fan did not work. Really? that is why we called service! He left and never came back. Also during our stay, a medical emergency happened with another guest of the hotel, this young person was having a heart attack, no medical personnel in the island at all! He had to be stabilized by a retired Italian doctor that was a guest in the hotel. Emergency trip back to Cartagena in a private boat 45 minutes! Kudos for the hotel manager, she was on top of the situation and went to Cartagena in the boat with the guest. Fortunately the guest was fine as we found later. Also everyday at 4:00 p.m. there was no electricity. One of the generators was damaged and the only generator needed a rest from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. everyday! Great hotel and location but much improvement is greatly needed.

We were looking for a relaxing day and night on the Islas del Rosario. We enjoyed the ease of access to the restaurant and activities. We definitely appreciated the service provided by the restaurant waiters as well. Some of my concerns for future guests are the constant approaches by hotel vendors selling necklaces and other trinkets, the inability of hotel toilets to flush toilet paper, and the night time power outages.

perfect relaxation for me
spent 6 days, took private boat around to larger beaches, out to aquarium on another island, menu of 100 choices, which was astonishing for such a small place, great hammocks everywhere, very attentive staff bringing food if you want to chaises on beach, many of which have shaded palapas beaches are not long white coral ones, but you can easily find one on a boat a hotel of this century on island of 19th century, lovely contrast cannot help but relax depending on month can be quite windy at end of day cannot leave island on same day as flight as water conditions are too unpredictable and small boats available for private ride not the best for that possibility normal boat that takes you there from Manga neighborhood is very nice, about 40ish people, and large enough to run other than in stormy seas leaves at 8:30am and returns at 3:30 pm and takes an hour

What really Counts
Our family of 7 spent 3 days ay San Pedro Managua. The hotel needs some maintenance and updating. But, our stay was excellent because the people, island and place make up for whatever is lacking. The menu tries to do too much and tends to over sauce everything. But the staff are always willing to modify the dishes if you ask. There are a number of activities to do and we did many of them, but we also chilled out and read books and played cards and poked around several other hotels. Don't miss the canoe trip through the lagoons! We did it at dusk and it was pure magic. To be truthful the Hotel is 3 stars by our stands but the staff, experience and memories we took away were all 5.
