We are usually really happy here. We had to wait at check in while the front desk clerk "chatted" with 2 women and there were 5 people waiting to check in. Another clerk finally came up and helped. Our room was dirty, the freezer compartment in the frig was almost completely frozen shut, the thermostat was taken apart and laying in pieces. They wanted us to wait for someone to come up and fix it. We asked for another room. The freezer was half frozen in this one. room was not clean either and there were dirty glasses outside the door. I mentioned it on the way out and the clerk looked annoyed. We went down for coffee in the morning and it was gone and they wouldn't make any more. Not happy at all this time. The valet attendants were extremely nice!

Why does this hotel have an “excellent” rating?
I’ve stayed at a number of Alofts and I found this one to be possibly the worst. The whole hotel is in need of updates and my room felt dirty and was not stocked (I checked in and there were 2 bath towels, a few squares of toilet paper left and the bathroom floor looked dirty). The bathroom shower floor felt slimey and smelled like a wet dog. I would have mentioned this to the front desk, but they seemed unconcerned and were not friendly on check in,and when I checked out, no one asked how my stay was. Only saving grace was the valet team who were friendly and efficient.

Not bad, but for the price we paid it'd be better
Usually, SPG properties are very nice and well maintained with excellent service. We did not experience that at this location. The service was lackluster, not a lot of friendliness from the staff checking in or parking our car (you MUST do valet, no self-park). Also, there were a ton of really loud drunk guests partying outside in the courtyard area and in the hallways well past 1am. I know they can't control who stays in the hotel, but it was very loud in the hallways. Maybe I'm just getting old :) Also, the pool was closed for chemical maintenance, and they were doing a lot of construction so the lobby area smelled like carpet glue or something. I know they can't help that, hopefully renovations help boost the place a little.

There is no parking lot or bathroom door
There were quite a few bars and restaurants nearby and being right on the water was beautiful. But... there was no parking lot for our car and had to pay $30 extra a night for a vallet and there was no bathroom door, just a flimsy sliding door that didn't even close all the way, so somewhat embarrassing. The people were nice and helpful but the whole thing was way over priced and not that conveniently located.
