Parking is 3 blocks away and costed us $19!! :(
Do you like hauling your bags 3 city blocks from your car in the public parking garage, paying $19 for a few hours, and having your next door neighbor's toilet right next to the head of your bed? Then you'll love this place. Front desk staff was barely interested in taking care of me or answering my questions. When we first got to our room around 9:30 pm our "neighbor" was playing their tv quite loud. Got worried. Thankfully, the air conditioner was really loud and that drowned out their noise. The room itself was TINY! The Desk, chair, bed, dresser barely fit. Bathroom was really small, too. Good things: bed was kinda comfortable, a/c unit loud, bathroom newer floor and fixtures, 2 towels for me + 2 for my husband. (hey, it's nice to have a separate one for my hair!) Wifi was so-so, we weren't there long enough to really judge. Even though the price was less than others in the area, we paid too much for what we got. With the extra cost of parking, we'd have been better off somewhere else. :( I will be sure to read ALL the details on the next hotel I book to make sure that my car is close by and that I'm not fooled by the photos...hope you do, too!

Good 6.0
Overpriced, Loud Location, and Bad Cleaning Staff
The stay here started off not too bad. I got there and the door was locked....okay...the lady eventually lets me in realizing that I'm trying to check in (in the middle of her personal phone call). I then realized what kind of area this was and why the door was locked. Speaking as a 6'3 male I would not recommend this place to women traveling alone. The elevator is only slightly faster than taking the stairs. I did not sleep one full night due to the noise level around the hotel. Normally I sleep like a sack of bricks, but people were dumping trash cans at 5 am, or the police were a block away on megaphones handling some kind of situation at 2 am. It was unbelievable. I normally tip the wait staff that cleans my room everyday. However, I noticed on the second day that the staff was not replacing my glasses with clean ones. In one case, I placed a piece of gum on one of the glass covers (thinking that it would be thrown away when they cleaned). Then when my room was cleaned, instead of replacing the glass cover, they placed it (and the used piece of gum) on top of the glass. For the amount of money you pay to stay here I would have gone elsewhere. I could understand if it was a cheap hotel but it is not so something like this is not something you should deal with.

I really expected more from a Choice / Clarion hotel. The place overall is run down, needs upgrading and for the price @ $195 plus tax... the only real benefit was the location. Staff all around were great and believe it or not the breakfast was better then expected yet the furniture and decor was awful in the breakfast room. My room didn't have a closet or any way to hang my clothes not even a robe hook. Because of the staff and location I probably will go back for my business meetings that are two blocks away.

Very Good 8.0
Good for a short stay- great breakfast and service
The front desk was very nice and had fast check-in. The hotel felt older fashion, like Victoria. My room was small with a big remodeled bathroom (granite counter tops). It had a loud air-conditioning system sticking out of the window and which I could not find any control panel to adjust the temperature. There was a desk and a TV in the room with the double bed (which I requested). The morning breakfast was delicious. It had eggs, bacon, sausage, yogurts, toast, bagels, cereal, fruit, coffee and more. The elevator was tiny and made noise and rocked when in use which kind of scared me, but I made it up and down safely with my fingers crossed. My allergies flared up in the room so not sure what triggered them. Bed was comfortable and clean though to sleep in. The part of town was a little sketchy so I stayed in my room the whole night. There was free wi-fi which I didn't connect to.

Very Good 8.0
The free breakfast was surprisingly good and plentiful, given the low price of my 3 night weekend stay and the high prices in Oakland. Location very convenient to BART, which had several delays during my stay. On the other hand, the area is completely dead on the weekend without even fast food, only Chinese restaurants. My room had no natural light (or view) but the LEDs in the ceiling were totally adequate. Bed, desk, and chair were fine, and there were plenty of towels. Also a small fridge and a microwave. Very clean and, for the price, completely adequate.
